Dedicated Recreation Leader Wanted for Funka

At Funka, you'll build relationships, create new opportunities, and be part of developing an activity where more young people experience community and participation. Job Responsibilities Funka is an activity that offers youth center services for young people with various types of disabilities. The activity is based at Västra hamnen youth center and Rosengård youth center Tegelhuset, and serves children and young people with special needs from grade 6 up to 21 years old. We are now looking for recreation leaders to further develop our services. A large part of the role involves outreach activities at the city's adapted upper secondary schools: Valdemarsro gymnasium, Malmö restaurant school, and Malmö sports gymnasium. Here you'll work on building relationships with young people and school staff to create a bridge between school and the youth center. In addition to the outreach role, you'll also staff Funka at Västra hamnen and Rosengård three evenings per week. Another important part of the role is to find, contact, and maintain dialogue with other collaboration partners, both municipal and external, to develop the activity and reach more young people in our target group. Working with the target group also requires close dialogue with guardians. Furthermore, you're expected to be an active part in external and internal events relevant to the target group, such as Funkisfestivalen and accessibility days. The activity is in an exciting development phase where we want to create better continuity and a clearer outreach mission toward adapted upper secondary schools so more young people have access to youth center activities. The work is varied and flexible, with great opportunities to find new forms of collaboration and further develop the services. Qualifications We're looking for someone with a folk high school diploma in recreation leadership or other relevant post-secondary education that the employer deems equivalent, combined with experience working with our target group. It's important that you have experience with and knowledge of various types of disabilities and knowledge of adapted measures to make the environment accessible for our target group. You're also engaged and good at building relationships, and have the ability to connect with young people in a simple and natural way. You thrive in a varied and challenging environment and are passionate about supporting and encouraging young people's ideas. Since the activity is expected to create cross-sectoral collaborations both within and outside municipal services, it's very important that you're a good networker and can function as an ambassador for the activity and for the City of Malmö. It's therefore a merit if you have education and/or experience in project management or have worked on starting up a new activity. It's also a plus if you have knowledge of norm criticism, gender equality, and participation. Training in coaching approach, low-affective interaction, and knowledge of clarifying pedagogy are also merits. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. About the Workplace Västra hamnen youth center is a large and diverse activity with 1000 square meters of facilities right by Stapelbäddsparken. As a recreation leader here, you'll have great opportunities to shape the content of the center and develop the services. There are spaces for creative activities, a recording studio, and a concert hall with permanent sound and lighting equipment. In addition to the Funka activity, Västra hamnen youth center also runs youth center services for the regular target group and area activities around Limhamn. As a recreation leader here, you'll be part of a large team of 14 recreation leaders. The youth center has a large catchment area and attracts young people from across Malmö.
