Are you a power systems engineer with experience in selectivity, relay protection, and control? Here you'll have a key role in the development of the electrical grid!
About the role as Protection Engineer
With us, you'll have a central role where you contribute to a robust and secure electrical grid through technical support to operations, maintenance, and projects. You work closely with both internal specialists and external partners across voltage levels of 0.4-400kV.
The role is broad and you will, among other things:
- Develop selectivity plans and relay protection settings for our facilities.
- Work with FAT/SAT and verification of protection and control systems.
- Develop fault isolation philosophies and technical guidelines for protection functions.
- Conduct disturbance investigations, fault analyses, and assessments of protection functionality.
- Provide technical support to investment and development projects as well as to the rest of the organization.
- Contribute to the development of technical control documents, processes, and methods within power systems, protection, and selectivity.
You'll be part of an engaged team of about 10 people with access to modern test laboratories in Stockholm and Karlstad to test, verify, and develop solutions for a more sustainable and secure electrical grid.
The position is primarily intended for Stockholm or Karlstad, but for the right person, placement in Kungsbacka or Bollnäs may be possible.
What we're looking for
We're seeking someone with technical education in electrical power, energy systems, or equivalent, or who has built up equivalent competence through relevant work experience. You have several years of experience working with protection and control, relay protection, selectivity, or control systems.
You need to be able to work methodically with selectivity plans, relay protection settings, calculations, and technical documentation. We would also appreciate if you're interested and curious about how digitalization and AI can be used to facilitate and improve your work. You also have very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
It's advantageous if you have:
- Experience with testing, commissioning, or field work.
- Experience with configuration and testing of relay protection systems.
- Knowledge of IEC 61850 and network solutions for protection and control.
- Experience with power quality analysis, disturbance analysis, or protection philosophies.
- Experience with selectivity plans for radial or meshed electrical networks.
- Experience with tools such as Python, PSS®E or SINCAL, and industry-known relay protection software such as PCM600, DIGSI or similar.
As a person, you are problem-solving and have an aptitude for understanding complex relationships, analyzing technical data, and drawing well-founded conclusions. You work carefully, plan and structure your work well, and take responsibility for driving matters forward. To succeed in the role, you also need good collaboration skills, an open and humble approach, and be confident enough to take initiative and contribute to developing work methods, routines, and solutions together with others.
