Sweden's most beautiful workplace is looking for an Electrical Engineer for the research vessel Svea Svea is one of the world's most modern research vessels and can be used for virtually all types of marine research and environmental monitoring. Svea is owned by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and is staffed by the Swedish Maritime Administration. Regular operations and customers include SLU and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), which conduct expeditions in the Skagerrak and Baltic Sea. Through these expeditions, fish stocks, marine environment, and seabed conditions are monitored, among other things. Additionally, hydrographic surveying with ROV is performed for the Swedish Maritime Administration. We are now looking for an Electrical Engineer who wants to contribute to our operations! Responsibilities As an electrical engineer on board our research vessel, you are responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the vessel's electrical systems and equipment. Together with the Chief Engineer and other technical personnel, you conduct preventive and corrective maintenance in the field of electrical engineering. The work includes, among other things, electrical power supply, automation and control systems, as well as IT/OT systems. The role is practical and varied, where you get to use your technical expertise broadly and contribute to keeping the research vessel operating safely and efficiently. Your placement is in the engine department, with the Chief Engineer as your immediate supervisor. Who Are You? We are looking for someone who meets the following requirements: You have at least three years of documented service in positions on board ships with content as described above or other service deemed equivalent. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English in both speech and writing. You can understand technical documentation, such as technical and electrical function descriptions and drawings. You must also meet the medical requirements required to obtain a medical certificate for seafarers according to STCW. If you do not currently have a valid medical certificate, you will need to be able to undergo and pass a medical examination to obtain a medical certificate for seafarers before employment. It is advantageous if you have: Certification as an Electro-Technical Officer according to STCW III/6. A degree in Marine Engineering or other acquired competence deemed equivalent. Experience with diesel-electric propulsion machinery. Experience with practical marine electrical installation and applicable regulations regarding this. Experience with troubleshooting in marine electrical systems. Experience with control systems, integrated automation and monitoring systems including both IT and OT systems. Experience working with the AMOS maintenance management system. Required certification for Basic Safety according to STCW. We place great importance on your personal qualities. The work involves close collaboration with researchers and other crew members, which requires good cooperation and communication skills. At the same time, you are self-directed and take responsibility for your tasks. You are also service-minded and enjoy finding solutions when problems arise.
