Description of the Position
In your role as a student assistant, you help create a safe foundation for our students who need extraordinary support as well as specially designed pedagogy and social training. You provide support at the students' side throughout the school day. An important part of the work is to stimulate and motivate students to develop their abilities and create learning opportunities. The work is characterized by low-affect interactions, clear pedagogy, and alternative communication strategies. You work to stimulate and challenge students' development and learning, in close collaboration with colleagues. Your tasks also include everyday duties such as grocery shopping, kitchen tasks, cleaning, and other practical tasks that may arise. Your working hours will be Monday-Friday 7:45-12:45 (no work during school breaks or weekends).
Knowledge, Experience, and Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone with the courage, experience, and desire to work with our most challenging students. Our school is an adapted school with a focus on students with significant need for special support. Here you will meet a student group where acting-out behavior, self-harming behavior, and other problematic behaviors are part of everyday life.
This assignment is not for everyone. It requires a strong mind, a confident personality, and clear structure. You need to be able to stay firm when things get difficult, take responsibility in pressured situations, and simultaneously meet each student with respect and professionalism.
We work with low-affect interaction (LAB) as our foundation. This means we do not allow ourselves to be provoked, but instead focus on understanding, regulating, and responding to behaviors with calm and clarity. You need to be attentive, reflective, and confident in yourself – with previous experience working with this target group.
You have at least upper secondary education, preferably within care and social services or childcare/children and leisure services, or other relevant education. It is an advantage if you have experience with low-affect interaction, students with neuropsychiatric disabilities, and/or intellectual disabilities.
We are looking for someone who understands differences and is flexible in their thinking. You need to be solution-focused and ideally have experience working in schools and with people with disabilities. You are a responsible, empathetic, and thorough person with a genuine interest in supporting people with disabilities. You have a positive attitude, focus on possibilities, and see it as your natural responsibility to contribute to a positive work environment. You must be able to work both independently and in a group. You need to be in stable condition both physically and mentally, as it is important that you have the strength to support students and manage stress.
You must have very good proficiency in Swedish, both in writing and speaking. This is very important, so if you do not meet this criterion, we ask that you do not apply for this position. Since the oldest students at the school can be approximately 20-21 years old, it is an advantage if you are older than them.
We politely but firmly decline contact from job ad sales representatives or other recruiters offering recruitment services.
