Description Solbacke School is a multicultural school where all students are given the opportunity to develop strong knowledge and social maturity. The school has approximately 220 students from preschool through grade 6. Solbacke School offers both adapted primary education and standard primary education. The adapted primary school is divided into 5 groups, with two groups following the regular curriculum by subject and three groups following subject areas. Our after-school program is divided into two groups by age, with students from both the standard and adapted primary school attending together. At Solbacke School, we have strong collaboration between the standard and adapted primary school to find approaches that develop each student in the best possible way. At our school, we actively work on language development and motor skills. We believe that values-based work, approach, and mindset are important. In recent school years, this has been a prioritized area for all staff at the school. In this improvement work, we collaborate with Närhälsan and follow a model called PALS. PALS is an evidence-based school model that systematically and strategically works with school staff's approach and mindset to reduce behavioral problems in school and increase student academic performance. Through positive behavioral support, we create a good learning environment and strong relationships between staff and students. We would like you to tell us what values-based work and good approach mean to you! We work extensively to get more students moving! In August 2018, we became the first school in Sweden to start The Daily Mile. In short, it means we exercise for an extra 15 minutes every day. We work to ensure students are physically active during outdoor time and have a recess educator who drives this work. We collaborate with sports organizations that, for example, offer activities at the school at the end of the school day/during after-school time. We are now hiring a student assistant! This is a fixed-term employment contract until June 2027. Job Responsibilities You will work in a team led by a teacher and together with other student assistants will share responsibility for a group of students. In the adapted primary school, we provide full-day care for children with disabilities and work inclusively based on each student's circumstances. You will support students in either a subject-based class or subject-area class. Students have varying support needs, which may include assistance with mobility, hygiene situations, lifting, communication, and meal times, etc. In the afternoon, you will follow one or more students to after-school care and, depending on the student's needs, support them in various activities there as well. You will work extensively with AAC (augmentative and alternative communication). Solbacke School's adapted primary school makes extensive use of Pekprat and PODD books. In addition, sign language as support and other visual support are used daily. With us, you will have the opportunity for varied work with much collaboration and creativity where you as an employee get to be involved in developing our operations. Qualifications For this position, we are looking for someone with a high school diploma and experience and expertise working with students with intellectual disabilities in adapted primary school. Experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) is a merit. You have the ability to work together with others to accomplish tasks and reach goals. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you work toward a respectful work environment. You understand the shared mission, act based on it, and contribute to the whole. As a person, you are flexible, calm, stable, and attentive, with the ability to create a safe environment for all students where children's development and learning are in focus. You see the benefits of working in a team and are skilled at creating good relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. In this role, you need to have the ability to prioritize and adapt your work style to students' and the organization's needs. You are happy to contribute ideas and new ways of thinking to continuously drive the work forward and help develop collaboration between adapted primary school and the school. You have strong communication skills to explain problems and information to different audiences and from different perspectives. You encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement. You stay informed through environmental awareness and regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your operations. You see an inclusive approach as an asset and with your creativity, you create engagement and motivate learning. We welcome your application!
