Description Would you like to make a difference for our students? We are now seeking a student assistant for Nordhemsskolan's adapted primary school for grades 7-9. Nordhemsskolan 2-9 is a prestigious school located in the heart of Linnéstaden, at a convenient distance from the city center and Slottsskogen. You can easily reach us as the tram and bus networks converge at Järntorget, just north of the school. We have approximately 850 students in grades 2-9, along with students in our adapted primary school from grades 7-9. Nordhemsskolan places great emphasis on learning with a focus on quality instruction in a safe environment. The school consists of a primary school and adapted primary school led by a team comprising a principal, three assistant principals, and over 110 staff members. Nordhemsskolan works with PALS - a school-wide approach based on relationship-building, clarity, and structure in both a promoting-preventative and direct intervention framework. Job Responsibilities As a student assistant, you will be part of a classroom team with classroom teachers, after-school staff, and other student assistants. You will support students both during the school day and during after-school activities. You work on building relationships with students, are attentive to their needs, and support them with schoolwork, activities, transitions, as well as hygiene and restroom visits. You collaborate with colleagues, guardians, and other individuals in the student's circle. You can manage daily routines and participate in developing work methods and procedures so that students can develop to their full potential. The position primarily involves working closely with a student with intellectual disability (ID) and autism. The work may involve encountering situations that place high demands on physical and mental endurance, clarity, stability, and the ability to create safety and structure. Qualifications We are seeking someone who has completed upper secondary education, preferably with a focus on the Child and Recreation Program or Care and Service Program. You have excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. It is advantageous if you have experience working with children and students with intellectual disabilities at various developmental levels as well as children and students with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPD). Experience with sign language as an alternative and complementary communication (TAKK/AKK), visual supports, and clarifying pedagogy is also considered advantageous. To thrive and succeed in this role, you need to be comfortable meeting and handling challenging situations. You work in a low-affect manner and have the ability to prevent, address, and manage conflicts as well as other situational challenges. The role also requires good physical fitness as the work may involve practical support and active participation in students' daily lives. As a person, you are relationship-building and have a professional demeanor toward students, colleagues, and guardians. You have good collaboration skills and are responsive to your colleagues. You reflect on ethics and values-based issues. You have great commitment and a good ability to see each student's possibilities and needs and are proactive.
