Your Role As a teaching assistant, you will help and stimulate students in need of special support with learning, development, and independence both individually and in groups, using a calm and supportive approach. The work involves creating a safe environment and framework for students with a focus on studies and conditions for developing cooperation and relationships at school. Your work is carried out on behalf of the responsible teacher based on the current curriculum. You will support students throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during breaks and in the after-school program, during meals and hygiene situations, and in other activities. The work requires constant attention, analysis, and understanding of situations both inside and outside the classroom. In close cooperation with teachers and other teaching assistants, you strive to find individual solutions so that each student can benefit from instruction in the best possible way. Understanding each other's professional roles is of utmost importance. Contact and cooperation with guardians is an important part of the work, as is actively contributing to the workplace's development and taking responsibility for your own professional development. The work can be physically demanding and psychologically challenging. Who Are We Looking For? We are looking for someone with one of the following: High school diploma from a Child and Recreation Program with a focus on pedagogical and social work Good results from the vocational package Teaching Assistant in adult education or equivalent teaching assistant training at a folk high school Diploma/approved completion from equivalent education that the employer considers sufficiently comprehensive in pedagogy and child development and learning Meets some of the educational requirements and has at least three years of work experience as a teaching assistant We want you to have a good ability to meet school-age children and also to understand the role of a teaching assistant and to be responsive to students' needs. It is a merit if you have documented experience working as a teaching assistant or other equivalent experience. It would also be advantageous if you have experience working with people with disabilities. We appreciate if you have good pedagogical skills and knowledge of the curriculum. You need to be able to choose approaches within the pedagogical methods and techniques that the school uses. We also want you to have the ability to stimulate students in their development, and it is an advantage if you also have a talent for enthusiastically motivating students. You are a balanced and stable person with a professional demeanor and can handle situations that arise in a patient, secure, and calm manner. To succeed in your role as a teaching assistant, it is important that you can take responsibility, have empathetic abilities, and can collaborate.
