You meet students where they are, build relationships, and help them succeed both academically and socially – in the classroom as well as outside it. We are an F–9 school with approximately 500 students plus an adapted primary school, and we work based on a relational approach and an accessible learning environment. We are now seeking two student assistants – one position at 100 percent in grade 4 and one position at 80 percent in grade 7. Job Responsibilities As a student assistant, you have a varied and meaningful task where you make a difference in students' daily lives. You provide pedagogical and social support during the school day – in the classroom, during breaks, during transitions, and in other contexts where your presence creates safety and structure. In some cases, this also includes support for students with care needs or who may display challenging behavior. You support one or more students in both teaching and social interaction and work closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, accessible, and stimulating learning environment based on each student's needs. The position may also include work in the after-school program, where you contribute to meaningful and developmental activities after the school day ends. Qualifications We are seeking someone who is trained as a student assistant or has experience that the employer considers equivalent. As a person, you find it easy to create safety and good relationships with both students and colleagues, and you are used to working independently as well as in a team. You are flexible and can quickly adapt to different tasks – for example, from providing support to a single student with special needs to leading an activity for an entire student group. You are attentive to students' daily condition and needs, and can adapt your approach accordingly. Your communication skills allow you to clearly explain tasks, remain calm in stressful situations, and work effectively with both colleagues and guardians. The work can sometimes be both physically and mentally demanding, and it is important that you have the ability to remain calm, create structure, and build trusting relationships. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in students' daily lives – a task that both challenges and gives much back.
