At the top of the school, we have a school library that, together with spaces for practical and aesthetic subjects, forms a cultural floor. Your Role As a teaching assistant at Katarina Södra School, you work to help students who, for various reasons—in this case Type 1 diabetes—need support to keep up with instruction and participate in the school's other activities. The work aims to help students develop, as far as possible and based on their own capabilities, in accordance with the goals of education. Together with teachers and other school staff, you work to create a developmental, meaningful, and positive environment for students. Care and supervision of students are other important parts of your assignment. Based on the activity's needs, the work can be carried out with individual students or with a group. Work tasks are varied, diverse, and sometimes challenging. This may involve helping a student find focus in their studies or assisting in finding individual solutions so the student can learn and acquire knowledge. It can also involve supporting the student in social situations during school hours, supporting the student in various activities during breaks, in changing rooms, meals, or on field trips and outdoor days, etc. It can also involve managing individualized medical care/helping students with self-care implementation. You work closely with teaching staff, receiving instructions and collaborating on how the work should be performed. Work is done both independently and together with others on staff. Your Competence and Experience We are looking for someone who has: - Teaching assistant training, childcare training, or other training that the employer deems equivalent, or completion of a 3-year secondary education in child and youth studies, preferably with an additional 1.5-year specialization for children with special needs. - Documented experience (please specify number of years, e.g., 1 year) working as a teaching assistant in schools or in similar assignments that the employer deems equivalent. - Experience working with low-emotional responding approaches or experience working in adapted primary school. - Experience with individualized medical care and implementation of self-care—experience with diabetes. - Good ability to express yourself and make yourself understood in Swedish, both orally and in writing. It is meritorious if you have training, knowledge, and/or experience working with clarifying pedagogy. We are looking for you to want and be able to build relationships with students, believe that every student can reach their full potential, and want to work to promote their independence. You are professional, have good judgment, and can set boundaries. You are empathetic and use low-emotional responding with students. The work requires that you have patience and can adapt your communication and approach based on the situation. You are secure, trust-building, and understand the importance of being a role model for adults. You can work independently and take initiative. In your interactions with students and guardians, you are clear and responsive to students' needs. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Other Information The position is time-limited for one school year, starting in August 2026 and ending in June 2027. Stockholm City uses competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination. To work in our schools, you must provide a valid extract from the police's criminal record and suspicion register before a job offer is made. Within the Education Administration, we apply individual salary setting regulated by HÖK and General Provisions (AB).
