Your role as a student assistant Your main task is to support a student with diabetes in the current 2nd grade and ensure their well-being throughout the entire school day (school and after-school care). You follow the student's self-care plan, which means you monitor blood sugar levels, assist with check-ups, manage meals and insulin administration according to current procedures, and respond to signs of hypo- or hyperglycemia. You handle medical equipment and may need to change pump/sensor. You create conditions for the student's full participation in instruction and after-school activities and adapt activities as needed. You contribute to a safe, inclusive, and functioning daily life in the classroom, during breaks, and during after-school time. You are also present in changing rooms. You work closely with teachers and after-school care staff. The role involves daily contact with guardians and building good relationships with students and colleagues. You can also provide support to other students by helping with assignments, instructions, social interaction, and a safe school environment. Your competence and experience For this position, you must have: Upper secondary education Experience working with children, students, or youth Experience with or willingness to learn about Type 1 diabetes Knowledge in technology and medical equipment Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing You are a secure, calm, and stable person who can handle stress and changes with flexibility and composure. You easily adapt to changing circumstances and to the needs of the organization and students. With your good judgment, you dare to take responsibility and make decisions when the situation demands it. As a student assistant, you need both interest and ability to collaborate, communicate, and build good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You have a pedagogical approach. It is a merit if you also have: Education in children and recreation or care and support Experience working as a resource teacher/student assistant Experience in care and support work and familiarity with care activities We place great emphasis on personal suitability Other information This is a fixed-term position with start date August 31. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis and the position may be filled before the application period ends.
