Description At Gärdesskolan and Olaus Petri school, we continuously work to improve the pedagogical learning environment and develop collaborative learning. We have a school culture characterized by high expectations. Our teaching is structured and varied with a combination of traditional teaching materials and digital devices. Our high grade point average is proof that students achieve school success at Gärdesskolan. The grade point average in grade 9 is among the highest in the city. The unit consists of two primary schools and one special needs primary school on Östermalm; Gärdesskolan F-9 and special needs primary school and Olaus Petri school F-3. Together we are approximately 700 students and 120 employees working toward the goal of a good school for all. The special needs primary school at Gärdesskolan recently underwent a renovation to meet tomorrow's needs. As part of this, student capacity is increasing to 40 students. We currently have approximately 30 enrolled students who study both subjects and subject areas. Our classes in the special needs primary school are locally integrated and part of the school's work teams that work inclusively based on students' needs and abilities, taking advantage of natural meetings in the school's daily work. In teaching and after-school activities, there is access to group rooms, teaching kitchen, sensory room, motor skills room, studio, and several playgrounds. In some of the practical-aesthetic subjects, teachers from the primary school teach. We have a consolidated school day with after-school care activities and for our students over 12 years old we offer short-term supervision. Short-term supervision and after-school care have their own facilities. The staff working in the special needs primary school consists of special education teachers, special education specialists, resource pedagogues, and teaching assistants. We have student health services with all professions. The staff working in the special needs primary school consists of special education teachers, resource pedagogues, and teaching assistants. We are now looking for a structured, committed, and communicative teaching assistant. You have a solution-focused approach and are creative in your way of meeting students' needs. You have a good ability to build relationships with students. You can interpret students' social interactions, be an adult role model, secure and trustworthy. The assignment involves significant student contact, which requires that you act as a good role model for the students. The position mainly involves working together with students to guide and support them during part of the school day both during lessons, in other contexts throughout the school day, and in the groups' after-school care and/or short-term supervision. Together with teachers and other staff at the school, you work to create a developmental, meaningful, and positive environment for the students. Care and supervision of students are other important parts of the assignment. Depending on the activities' needs, the work can be carried out with individual students or with a group. The tasks are varied and alternating. It may involve helping a student find calm in their studies or assisting in finding individual solutions so the student can acquire knowledge. It can also involve practicing daily tasks, supporting the student in various activities during breaks, in changing rooms, at meals, or on outings, and more. Qualifications You have relevant education in children and youth or other education that is deemed equivalent by the employer. You have experience working in a special needs primary school or with similar assignments with children and young people. You have knowledge of cognitive functions and their impact on students' learning and development. You have experience documenting, following up, and evaluating/reflecting. You have good communication with guardians and experience collaborating with external actors such as social services, emergency shelters, and LSS accommodations. You have proficiency in Swedish in both speech and writing. Meriting qualifications Special education expertise. Education or experience working with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), e.g., sign language as AAC (Swedish Sign Language), or PECS. TBA.
