Responsibilities Do you want to lead the financial operations of an organization where every decision contributes to a stronger and more inclusive Gothenburg? We're seeking a driven Finance Manager who wants to combine strategic leadership with an important societal mission. The Department has approximately 350 employees and a budget of MSEK 1,150 (2026 budget). Large portions of the Department's operations are procured through external suppliers or within the municipality. The rapid pace of change in procurement—including price adjustments and volume changes—shapes the entire organization's approach to work in a way that differs significantly in budget and forecast work compared to, for example, labor-intensive operations. We're now seeking a Finance Manager who wants to take full responsibility for budgets, follow-up, and financial analyses in a department where development, collaboration, and societal benefit are in focus. You'll have the opportunity to combine strategic work with close operational support and contribute to long-term sustainable decisions. In this role, you'll lead, coordinate, and develop work with budgets, forecasts, and follow-up. You'll ensure that financial decision-making materials are of high quality and provide clear support to leadership and operations. As Finance Manager, you'll be part of the Department's management team and be responsible for financial reporting to Department leadership and the Department Director. The role includes personnel and operational responsibility for the Finance Unit's 10 employees, and you'll also participate in the division's management team consisting of two unit heads and a division director. Here, you'll have operational and overall responsibility encompassing accounting, reporting, and financial management. You'll lead improvement efforts and ensure that your leadership focuses on motivating your employees as central conditions for operational results. We're seeking a present and confident leader who is unpretentious and available in day-to-day work for your team members. Qualifications You hold a bachelor's degree in economics or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have several years of documented management experience in the finance field with responsibility for operations, personnel, work environment, and finances. You're accustomed to working with financial matters at a strategic level. You have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. It's advantageous if you have experience with financial work within a politically governed organization and experience with systematic work environment and employee collaboration. Experience from the labor market and education sector and experience leading change and development work as well as creating participation in change processes are also valued. As a person, you see your work as part of a larger context. You're motivated by defining and setting goals and have the ability to transform these into concrete action. You can identify and analyze the core of a problem and based on that propose and implement sustainable solutions. As a leader, you have good collaboration skills through listening, communicating, and showing respect. You understand the shared mission and actively work to create good relationships both within your own operations and with other parts of the organization.
