Your responsibilities
We are looking for you who want to help create delightful meal experiences for our elderly guests.
As a kitchen assistant, you work in our kitchen where you receive pre-prepared meals from Food and Restaurant Services. The food is heated and served to our guests in the restaurant. You are responsible for setting tables, serving, and contributing to a welcoming and pleasant dining environment where food becomes a positive experience.
We are currently developing the future of meals within elderly care. This means that the role could eventually include more cooking, with a focus on creating meals that stimulate all the senses.
You also receive prepared meal boxes that are distributed to home care staff. The handling of meal boxes is currently under review within the municipality, which may mean that logistics will change in the future.
After lunch service, which is open between 12:00–13:00, you are responsible for dishwashing, cleaning, and restoring the kitchen. The position also includes tasks such as self-inspections, ordering, and invoice handling.
Your workplace
Blanders Safety Housing and Home Care is centrally located, just a few minutes' walk from Linköping's travel center. There are 38 safety apartments here, and our home care service for the central city center operates from the same premises. The building also includes Meeting Point, which offers activities for residents.
With us, approximately 30 care assistants, nursing assistants, and service assistants work. As a kitchen assistant, you work independently in the reception kitchen, with support from a colleague during lunch service.
Working hours are weekdays and every other weekend 10:00–14:00. If the operation's needs change, working hours may be extended.
For this position, an employment degree of at least 30% applies, but due to the right to full-time employment as applied in Linköping Municipality, you have the opportunity to choose a higher employment degree up to full-time. Work within care can be performed at a higher employment degree.
About you
We are looking for you who have experience working in a kitchen and who enjoy providing good service. You have basic knowledge of food hygiene, self-inspection, and applicable regulations. If you have knowledge of HACCP principles, that is advantageous.
It is also advantageous if you have training as a restaurant and meals assistant, kitchen assistant, or other training that the employer considers equivalent.
You need to have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as the work involves many contacts with both colleagues and guests. You also need to have basic computer skills as orders are made digitally. Experience with ordering and invoice handling is advantageous.
As a person, you are self-directed and take responsibility for your tasks. You have a calm and service-oriented approach and enjoy helping others. You work well with colleagues, communicate clearly, and adapt to different situations and needs. You are flexible and see changes as a natural part of the operation's development.
