The Finance and Planning Department is responsible for the university's finances, planning functions, and procurement. The department's mission is to work with both ongoing operational activities and development and strategic issues within its areas of responsibility. The department consists of the Accounting and Operational Economics units and a staff function. The Economist role is located in the Operational Economics unit. The department operates on Mittuniversitetet's campuses in both Östersund and Sundsvall.
Job Responsibilities
We are seeking an Economist/Controller who can be responsible for financial work related to one or more institutions/departments within the university. The duties are varied and span a wide range. An important part of the work is to provide good service and support to operations on financial matters.
You are also expected to, in addition to working with ongoing operations, participate in the finance department's development work. The department works with the ERP system (Agresso) and the budget tool Hypergene.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Support manager(s) in the institution's shared financial work with budgets, forecasts, and financial statements
Make transfers and corrections
Responsible for ongoing monitoring and analysis
Support research projects in the form of calculations, budgets, ongoing accounting and financial statements, requisitions, monitoring and analyses
Responsible for financial investigations
Participate in the joint development of systems, routines and processes
Your Background
We are looking for someone who has:
Academic degree with a focus on economics
Good experience with Office applications with emphasis on Excel
Good experience with accounting systems
Experience producing, analyzing and communicating financial information for different types of recipients
Experience in financial reporting of EU projects and other grants is advantageous.
Your Qualities
The role requires you to be results-oriented, have analytical abilities and be problem-solving. Furthermore, you are service-oriented and have good collaboration skills. You also have the ability to work independently with foresight within the responsibilities of the position. You have very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English.
