About the position The Department of Animal Biosciences is one of SLU's largest departments. The administrative unit at the department is now seeking an economist. The administrative unit provides support and services to department management and staff. The team primarily works with financial and personnel administration, record management and archiving, as well as other support functions such as facilities management, web, and procurement. As an economist with us, you share responsibility with your colleagues for project finances, customer and supplier account management, among other things. You work closely with researchers and teachers at the department. Your responsibilities include: Preparing project budgets Detailed financial monitoring at project level Customer invoicing and supplier account management Handling requisitions and transfer of research funds Financial interim reporting, final reporting, and project closure The department also administers EU- and SIDA-financed projects, where financial audits occur. Your background We are seeking someone with a university degree in a relevant field or other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent. Our research funders have different regulations and requirements, which means that the work demands a strong ability to understand complex guidelines for applications and reporting. You have a high service orientation, excellent communication skills, and enjoy having many contacts. You work independently, have initiative, and like to take the lead. We value your ability to explain financial concepts and relationships in a pedagogical way. The position requires accuracy, good organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Excellent knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is essential as the work takes place in an international environment. You have good knowledge of the Office suite and advanced skills in Excel. Experience with government regulations and accounting is a requirement. Experience with the systems Unit4 ERP (formerly UBW/Agresso), Proceedo, and Primula is a requirement. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability. About us The Department of Animal Biosciences is part of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science and is responsible for education and research within several fundamental and applied scientific areas. These areas encompass anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, toxicology, genetics, breeding, immunology, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, epizootiology, comparative medicine, food safety, bioinformatics, and One Health. Our research spans from production animals to sport and companion animals, laboratory animals, and wildlife. The department's researchers work across the spectrum from molecular mechanisms and microbiology to animal structure, function, and behavior, and how these are affected by breeding, physical activity, management, production, stress, environmental factors, and diseases.
