The Preschool Administration is a young department with extensive collective knowledge and expertise that builds the future. Tens of thousands of children attend Stockholm's preschools. Their everyday life and their future are our mission. We work for the best possible preschool and therefore we maintain contact with everyone who operates preschools in Stockholm's eleven district areas – whether they are municipally operated or run independently. Currently, just over 80 employees work with us in many different expert areas such as supervision and licensing, law, economics and development in all preschool subject areas. Welcome to us You will work in the authority department, which is one of the preschool administration's four departments. The authority department consists of two units, Unit 1 and Unit 2, which both work with supervision and approval of independent preschools and pedagogical care in private operation. The units' mission includes licensing and supervision of private operators. In connection with licensing and supervision, the operators' financial conditions as well as the suitability and understanding of applicable regulations of the owner and management group are examined. The assignment also includes handling the home municipality's responsibility within, among other things, supplementary grants. Work is conducted in an interdisciplinary manner and the department includes lawyers, educators, economists and political scientists who work as investigators. As an economist, you have an important role in the joint investigation work. A large part of the work involves analyzing economic information and materials as well as compiling and communicating assessments and conclusions, both in writing and verbally, to colleagues who work with licensing and supervision. Together we work to ensure that private operators running preschools or pedagogical care in Stockholm meet applicable requirements and have the conditions to conduct activities of good quality. In your role as an economist with us, you investigate whether applicants and existing operators have the financial conditions to run a preschool. The financial assessment involves examining annual reports, income and balance sheets and other financial materials. Assessment of an operator's understanding and suitability is done together with other colleagues in a team. You analyze and compile conclusions and other relevant information about the operation according to existing procedures and checklists. The work includes making reconciliations, answering questions and writing decisions. You may attend meetings with new operators and communicate economic information within the unit. Furthermore, you work continuously and proactively to create good conditions and improvements in the operations within the scope of your work. Your competence and experience We are looking for someone who has: higher education in economics or post-secondary education with a focus on economics or experience/education that the administration considers equivalent several years of current experience working with economic follow-up or accounting, or alternatively audit experience reviewing annual reports, key figures and financial reports good knowledge of Excel a developed ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written It is meritorious if you have: knowledge of several association forms and group relationships experience with economic work in public administration experience working with investigation work experience working in or with preschool experience regarding licensing of regulated activities experience writing decisions, remittals or different types of official statements digital proficiency regarding use of, for example, the Office package We are looking for you who want to contribute to all children in Stockholm being offered preschool and pedagogical care of good quality.
