The Department of Molecular Biosciences, Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW) conducts experimental basic research in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immunobiology. Operations are conducted on-site in our laboratories and are characterized by both an international environment and a complex operation that places high demands on service, accuracy, and administrative routines. The department is one of the larger ones with approximately 180 employees and students, and the administrative team to which this role belongs currently consists of 8 employees. We are now seeking an economist for a temporary position through January 31, 2027, with responsibility for financial project reporting and monitoring as well as invoice management together with our two other economists in the administrative team. Job Responsibilities The role is broad and varied, and as an economist with us, you will have a central role in the department's operations. This position focuses on financial budgeting and monitoring of researchers' various project portfolios, handling and coding of invoices, and other financial administrative routines within the role and team in close contact with our researchers, the central finance department, and other colleagues at the department. Main responsibilities include: continuous reporting, budgeting, and financial monitoring on a quarterly basis as well as forecasts in our researchers' project portfolios in close contact with our research group leaders and other colleagues participation in annual financial statements and budget work in researchers' project portfolios handling, coding, and review of invoices and expenses advisory services regarding questions about expenses, representation, and other financial administrative matters from researchers and other colleagues. Since we are a small work team, we are expected to assist each other with work tasks during absences and peak work periods, and other administrative tasks within the unit may also occur. To thrive in this role, you enjoy working in a research-oriented environment, are self-directed and can prioritize your tasks based on peak periods/needs. It is also an advantage if you are thorough as a person but flexible in thinking outside the box when needed. The role involves close collaboration with both the administrative manager, colleagues in the team, and researchers at the department, which requires a positive and solution-oriented approach and that you as a person work well with different roles within the department and can communicate financial routines with simplicity and clarity. Qualifications We are looking for someone who wants to work in an international and dynamic research environment with many points of contact and who: is thorough, self-directed, responsible, and thrives in a role where you work in a solution-oriented manner and maintain order with high integrity and service speaks and writes fluent Swedish and English, as many of our researchers are English-speaking has experience with the Office 365 package has documented good collaboration skills has experience working with accounting, invoicing, and project finance in a research environment at a university/college/region or other public sector operations has education in accounting or equivalent experience that the employer deems relevant for the position.
