Dedicated Mentor Supporting and Empowering Youth Toward the Future

Popis:

Description Do you want to make a difference for young people who are outside school and work? Now you have the chance to become part of the New Paths project, which is financed with support from the European Social Fund and run in Gävleborg County, where Ljusdal Municipality is an important actor. The project aims to strengthen young people between 16 and 29 years old who neither work nor study (NEET) through individually tailored support measures and improved cooperation between municipalities and civil society. Ljusdal Municipality participates together with other municipalities in the county in this project during the period September 1, 2026 to April 30, 2029. Job Responsibilities Your focus will be on young people with complex life situations, often characterized by incomplete schooling, mental health issues, social isolation, and neuropsychiatric disabilities. Many of the young people also have experience with lack of motivation, weak networks, or norms that create additional obstacles in everyday life. By building close and trusting relationships, using an individually tailored and relationship-based approach, you support each young person's unique path toward studies, work, or other meaningful activities. Your role involves using proven methods such as motivational interviewing (MI), Supported Employment, progress measurement, and validation to create structure, clarity, and participation in the young people's development. The work combines individual support with group activities, internships, and low-threshold activities to strengthen motivation and social inclusion. You work closely with a colleague working with a similar target group and receive support from a coordinator and unit manager for planning and developing interventions. An important part of your responsibilities is to cooperate with external actors such as the region, the Social Insurance Agency, social services, adult education programs, and the Public Employment Service, to ensure that each young person has access to appropriate support and resources based on their situation. Cooperation with civil society organizations—associations, study organizations, and nonprofit activities—is central and provides trust-based relationships, low-threshold activities, and social contexts that broaden and deepen support for young people, while also complementing public services. Qualifications We are looking for someone with at least two years of post-secondary education in social work, behavioral science, or other relevant education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience with and knowledge of the target group's specific challenges, such as mental health issues and neuropsychiatric disabilities, is meritorious. It is a great advantage if you master and have experience with methods such as motivational interviewing (MI), Supported Employment, and validation, as these are central to the working approach. You are empathetic, communicative, and patient with a strong ability to build trust and create strong relationships. You are comfortable handling multiple parallel tasks and collaborating with different actors, both internally and externally, while also being able to work independently and as part of a team. Good organizational and documentation skills as well as a secure ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing are necessary. A Class B driver's license is a requirement. Terms The position is limited to the project period and offers you a key role in a committed team working together to create new and sustainable paths for young people in Ljusdal Municipality and throughout the county. Are you ready to take this important role and make a difference? We welcome your application! At Ljusdal Municipality, we believe there is a life for everyone. Ljusdal Municipality is located in the northwestern part of the beautiful Hälsingland region. The largest towns in the municipality are Ljusdal, Järvsö, and Färila. We have easy access to leisure, to one another, and to a simple everyday life. Those already living here, those returning home, and many who have made the move to our municipality testify to quality of life, more time to enjoy, and the freedom to be yourself. In Ljusdal Municipality, 1,700 employees do Sweden's most important work as we serve our 19,000 residents. Are you someone who wants to enrich us with your knowledge, your commitment, and your personality? Depending on the nature of the position, suitability assessment, extracts from the criminal record and/or suspicion register, or security vetting with register checks according to the Security Protection Act may be required before employment. The purpose is to ensure that employment can be carried out in a safe and secure manner based on the organization's requirements. Employment can only occur if all checks have been approved.
