The Parks and Forestry Operations Unit consists of approximately 50 employees during peak season, from April to October. Together we are responsible for maintaining Halmstad Municipality's parks, green areas, and forests. Our mission includes everything from city parks, playgrounds, and plantings to nature conservation, clearing, and thinning in forests near urban areas. With us, group leaders, operations managers, and parks and forestry personnel work closely together. With commitment, collaboration, and professional expertise, we develop and maintain the municipality's green environments so they are pleasant, sustainable, and accessible to everyone. Your Responsibilities As an operations manager within parks maintenance, you have an important role in planning, coordinating, and following up on the maintenance of the municipality's parks and green areas. You are the link between the unit manager's overarching assignments and the group leaders' daily operations, and you help translate goals, quality, and development work into practice. In the role, you are responsible for leading and driving projects, such as tree planting as well as renovations and development of parks and green areas. In some projects, you also have contact and collaboration with contractors. The work contains both operational, administrative, and development components, which requires strong planning ability, a coaching approach, and understanding of the operation's technical and economic conditions. For planning, management, and follow-up, you use our business system BM Road Service on a daily basis. Your Qualifications We are looking for someone with post-secondary education in parks, horticulture, forestry, or land/landscaping, or alternatively other education or experience that the employer deems equivalent. You also have at least five years of experience with operations and maintenance work within parks and horticulture. Other requirements include: Driver's license (Category B) Swedish in speech and writing Good IT skills Meritorious: Education in Work on Roads (APV) Experience reading and interpreting maps and working with map materials To succeed in the role, you need strong administrative ability and experience working with planning, follow-up, and development of maintenance and care plans. We are looking for someone who is driven, structured, and has the ability to plan and prioritize your work. You enjoy collaborating with others, building trustful relationships, and contributing to a positive work environment. The role involves participating in both development and change work, so it's important that you are open to new ways of working and thrive in an operation that is constantly evolving. You combine a long-term perspective with a practical focus and have the ability to translate plans into results together with colleagues and partners.
