JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Are you our next supervisor? We are looking for you to contribute to the leadership, development, and management of Växjö Municipality's parks and green spaces. Here, anything is possible when we listen, collaborate, explore, create value, and enhance the quality of life for our residents, businesses, and visitors.
The unit's workforce consists of 27 regular skilled staff plus approximately 10 seasonal staff, led by two supervisors. The unit is responsible for the operation and maintenance of detailed plan parks and natural areas as well as holiday decorations for public land throughout the municipality. The unit also manages the municipality's greenhouse for seasonal flowers.
The task of managing the municipality's parks and natural areas includes operation and maintenance of:
• Seasonal plantings
• Fountains, benches, and fixed installations
• Green space care such as grass areas, hedges, perennials, shrubs, etc.
• Park and street trees and park forests
• Play and activity areas
• Gravel areas and gravel roads
As a supervisor, you are a key person in this important work. You plan, lead, and follow up on daily operations, develop and drive the business toward set goals, and contribute to change initiatives. You support the unit manager in all matters related to economics, work environment, and staffing, and play an active role in developing quality and environmental work. The role also includes developing practical use of GIS and optimizing technical solutions. The supervisor is responsible for preparing planning documents and invoicing internal customers for daily and long-term needs. You maintain ongoing follow-up and dialogue with contractors/subcontractors and participate in relevant procurements. The position is primarily administrative.
You will work closely with other supervisors within the department to coordinate resources, develop operations, and develop the supervisor's role and function. Together with your team and in collaboration with other supervisors, you contribute to a well-maintained, attractive, and safer municipality for all.
On-call duty may occur in the future.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you with relevant experience or education, for example, landscape engineer, technical engineer, or master gardener. You preferably have professional experience suitable for leading operations and staff within parks, nature, property, or external environment.
You preferably have previous leadership experience and are well-versed in personnel matters. You are practical minded, but also have good administrative and technical ability and understanding of the modern digital environment and its possibilities such as GIS. You are a good problem solver with economic sense and a well-founded sense of responsibility and have interest in the task.
As a person, you naturally treat others with warmth and respect, and you thrive in a role where your work contributes to others' well-being. Your ability to be positive and energetic, combined with your collaboration skills, makes you a good candidate for this position. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We also see that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, and are comfortable using a computer as a daily work tool.
