The Department of Nursing Science has approximately 65 staff members and is one of three departments at the Academy for Health and Working Life. We offer education at bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels and work to strengthen both nursing science research and interdisciplinary research. University of Gävle hereby announces a doctoral education position, 240 credits, in the project "Can-Work-S: Sustainable work participation in people treated for cancer", with a PhD in Nursing Science as the goal. The overall purpose of the project is to provide research-based knowledge on how sustainable work participation can be measured, how it is valued in people treated for cancer, what effect a work-oriented intervention has on sustainable work participation, and how the intervention's implementation processes are evaluated. The project will include various research methods with quantitative and qualitative approaches: methodological study, observational study, intervention study with randomized controlled design, and process evaluation study. The doctoral student will be enrolled in the doctoral program in Nursing Science and the exam authorization area Health-Promoting Working Life. The doctoral student will be part of an interdisciplinary research environment together with doctoral students from several disciplines and will participate in the Can-Work-S research group together with other doctoral students and researchers. The research concerns "Inclusive Working Life", which is one of the research programs within the strategic research area Health-Promoting Work; the main supervisor is Anna Efverman. Job Responsibilities A person appointed to an educational position shall during the four years the education lasts, at full-time pace (100%), primarily engage in implementing the scientific research project and completing courses of at least 60 credits. The education includes the doctoral student writing a scientific dissertation corresponding to 180 credits. The person receiving the educational position may also work with teaching and administrative duties comprising a maximum of 20% of full-time after agreement with the supervisor, extending the study time proportionally. The doctoral student is expected to perform the majority of his or her work in Gävle and regularly participate in the academy's activities such as seminars and meetings; parts of the work can be conducted remotely. Qualifications Basic eligibility for education at doctoral level is held by a person who has completed a master's degree or completed course requirements of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 credits at advanced level, or has otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge within or outside the country. The University may grant an exception from the requirement for basic eligibility for an individual applicant if there are special reasons. To be admitted to doctoral education in Nursing Science, special eligibility is required, which means that the applicant must have a thesis comprising at least 15 credits, at advanced level, or corresponding knowledge assessed as equivalent. The eligibility must be achieved by the same date as the final application deadline. For this educational position, a degree within care, social work, or human service professions with relevance to the project is a requirement. You must have a well-developed ability to work independently and together with others in teams, as well as good communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and oral. As a doctoral student, you must have a desire to seek new knowledge and be able to discuss and explain the research with people not working within your own field; nationally and internationally. Selection for an educational position is made on the basis of an overall assessment of the applicant's ability to benefit from the education.
