Doctoral studies are conducted within the subject of Information Technology, which at Skövde University of Applied Sciences is defined as the subject that deals with how information is represented, processed, and communicated in artificial and natural systems, as well as how information technology systems are used and developed in order to create useful system solutions for individuals, organizations, or society.
This position is part of "Cybercampus Sweden" and Skövde University of Applied Sciences' collaboration arena PICS (Privacy, Information security and CyberSecurity). The Research Project
Many organizations today have limited capacity to systematically manage and learn from information security incidents. Often, incidents are handled reactively without utilizing experiences in long-term risk work. This research project examines how organizations can strengthen their ability to integrate incident management into risk-based information security work. The focus is on how organizational and sociotechnical factors affect the possibility of working more cohesively and learning over time. The goal is to develop a practical and theoretically grounded framework that describes how organizational capabilities for incident management can support risk-based information security work. The results are expected to contribute to increased understanding of how organizations can strengthen their resilience by linking incidents in their operations to the continuous work of identifying, assessing, and managing information security risks.
Your Role
You will primarily focus on your doctoral studies, which includes participation in various studies within research projects as well as doctoral courses, seminars, and conferences.
Your duties include:
Conducting studies in the field of IT-forensics and incident management processes,
Participating in relevant research projects,
Completing doctoral courses, and
Participating in teaching within cyber- and information security and performing other departmental work (no more than 20 % of working time).
Part of the work will be conducted at the Cybercampus office at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and in collaboration with other doctoral students throughout Sweden within the same research program. The employment covers doctoral studies (80 %) and departmental duties (teaching and administrative tasks equivalent to 20 %). Additional duties may be included in the position.
We are Looking for Someone Who Has:
Completed a degree at an advanced level, fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits at an advanced level, or in some other way within or outside the country acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.
Fulfilled course requirements of at least 60 credits, including independent thesis work comprising at least 15 credits at an advanced level, within the subject of Information Technology, related application areas, or other subject areas deemed directly relevant for dissertation work within Information Technology.
Documented English language proficiency equivalent to Swedish upper secondary school course English 6. This can also be demonstrated through an internationally recognized test such as IELTS (total score 6.5), TOEFL (total score 90), PTE (total score 62), etc.
Very good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, as data collection will be conducted through interviews and surveys with Swedish-speaking participants.
We will also evaluate the following assessment criteria for the employment:

For this employment, great emphasis will be placed on documented good ability to apply qualitative and quantitative analysis methods as well as good ability to benefit from education in Information Technology at doctoral level. Great emphasis will also be placed on documented ability to analyze organizational and sociotechnical aspects of information security. When the university selects qualified candidates for the Cybercampus doctoral education program, they should consider the report 'Security Police 2024–2025' regarding security-threatening activities directed at Sweden.
Employment Type: The employment is a fixed-term position until the completion of a doctorate degree, but no longer than 5 years. The employment is 100 % of full-time, of which 80 % doctoral studies and 20 % departmental duties. Salary is provided according to a local agreement on salary scale for doctoral students. Only those who have been admitted or already admitted to doctoral-level education can be employed as doctoral students.
