We are now seeking a PhD candidate for doctoral studies in health and lifestyle with the goal of earning a doctoral degree.
The initial employment may be for a maximum of one year and is thereafter extended one year at a time, provided that doctoral studies progress satisfactorily (Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, Section 7).
Academy of Health and Welfare
Halmstad University consists of four interdisciplinary academies, and this position is located at the Academy of Health and Welfare (HOV).
Description and Responsibilities
You will be employed as a PhD candidate in doctoral studies in health and lifestyle. Your work tasks will include:
- Collaborating with representatives from the Swedish Ice Hockey Association to develop a plan to address the project's research questions.
- Investigating, implementing, and evaluating initiatives focused on promoting the relationship between instruction and practical execution of actions in elite sports.
- Maintaining regular contact with employees at the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and other stakeholders to plan, coordinate, and implement the initiatives.
- Working closely with your supervisor and other key participants in the project to compile research results and write scientific publications according to standard practice, as well as communicate research findings to the broader society.
Departmental duties of up to 20% may be included in the position.
Selection Criteria
To be eligible for employment as a PhD candidate, you must be admitted to or have already been admitted to a doctoral program at a university (Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, Section 3).
To be admitted to education at the doctoral level, the applicant must have basic eligibility and the special eligibility required by the subject, and the applicant must be assessed to have the ability otherwise needed to benefit from the education (Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, Section 5).
Basic eligibility for doctoral level education (according to HE Chapter 7, Section 39) is held by those who:
- have completed an advanced level degree,
- have completed course requirements of at least 240 university credits, of which at least 60 university credits are at an advanced level, or
- have otherwise acquired knowledge within or outside the country that is substantially equivalent.
Additional Selection Criteria
- Master's degree or equivalent in sports science or another subject relevant to the project's focus.
- Strong knowledge of Swedish and English in both speech and writing.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking, ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- It is meritorious to have previous experience in sports, either as an active participant, leader, or in another capacity.
When filling this position, consideration will be given to the applicant's ability to benefit from doctoral level education (Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5, Section 5).
Salary
Salary according to local agreement for PhD candidates employed at Halmstad University.
