Örebro University is seeking a doctoral candidate for doctoral-level education leading to a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Gender Studies at the Department of Social Sciences and Media Studies. Research in the program is conducted based on feminist and political theory, including areas such as feminist theory and knowledge production, love and sexuality, feminist violence studies, sustainability and masculinity, politics and collective organizing, as well as work and organization. Education and Employment Doctoral education consists of courses and independent research work that you will present in a doctoral dissertation. The education is intended to be concluded with a Doctor of Philosophy degree. The education comprises 240 higher education credits, corresponding to four years of full-time studies. Our aim is for your doctoral-level education to be stimulating and meaningful from the beginning to the completion of your licentiate or doctoral degree. Receiving good orientation as a doctoral candidate facilitates the start of your studies and provides you with a solid foundation for your doctoral education. As a doctoral candidate at Örebro University, you will be offered a specially adapted seminar series covering everything from educational regulations and career development to support in your study situation and doctoral candidate networking. The education position is linked to a full-time doctoral employment during the education period, corresponding to four years. Eligibility and Selection To be admitted to doctoral-level education, applicants must have basic eligibility (https://www.oru.se/utbildning/utbildning-pa-forskarniva/blivande-doktorand/) and specific eligibility, and be assessed to have the ability otherwise needed to benefit from the education. Basic eligibility for doctoral-level education is held by those who have completed a degree at advanced level, fulfilled course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level, or in some other way within or outside the country acquired essentially equivalent knowledge. For specific eligibility in the subject, a passing grade is required in courses of at least 90 higher education credits, including independent work for a bachelor's degree in Gender Studies or a related subject. Specific eligibility is also held by those who within or outside the country have acquired essentially equivalent knowledge. Selection among eligible applicants shall be made with regard to the applicant's ability to benefit from doctoral-level education (see the university's selection regulations, Appendix 2 to the general study plan for the subject). This ability is assessed both on the basis of formal qualifications (education and other previous activities) and on the basis of skills demonstrated in essays and other academic work and in the statement of interest that the applicant has submitted.
