PhD Student in Electrical Engineering
Popis:
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is consistently ranked as one of the world's leading academic institutions. Here we have approximately 46,000 students and 8,500 employees in Lund, Helsingborg, and Malmö. We are united in our pursuit to understand, explain, and improve our world and people's conditions. Description of the Department The position is placed at the Department of Electrical and Information Technology, EIT, and the Division of Integrated Electronics Systems, IES. Research at the division balances system perspective with circuit perspective. We design integrated circuits (chips) in advanced nanometer silicon processes (primarily CMOS), such as radio frequency and millimeter wave circuits, data converters, digital signal processors, and larger systems containing both analog and digital functions. Our team consists of professors, associate professors, researchers, and administrative staff, which provides a rich intellectual environment that fosters collaboration. We offer a supportive work environment as a foundation for favorable professional development and an adequate balance between work and leisure. New employees have the opportunity to engage in highly relevant research projects, educational initiatives, and collaborations with companies, which contributes to our overall mission of promoting IC design. Being a PhD Student As a PhD student, you are both admitted as a student and employed at Lund University. As a doctoral researcher, you are trained in a scientific approach. This can be briefly described as gaining practice in critical and analytical thinking, solving problems independently with the help of appropriate methods, and developing research ethics awareness. Additionally, as a PhD student, you will have the opportunity to work on projects, develop your leadership skills, and enhance your pedagogical abilities. Throughout your studies, you will be guided by supervisors. Doctoral studies conclude with a dissertation and a doctoral degree. More about being a PhD student at LTH at lth.se. Subject and Project Description Through a project grant from the Swedish Innovation Agency, Vinnova, we now offer a new PhD student position. The participants in the project are Lund University, Chalmers University of Technology, and Ericsson, and the research will take place in close collaboration between researchers from the universities and the company. The collaboration with Ericsson concerns system aspects and antennas, and with Chalmers on transmitter linearization techniques, which will provide good opportunities for both increased visibility and greater impact of the research. The research area for this position is integrated radio frequency circuits for the transmitter section in wireless devices connected with 6G. The frequency range is 7-12 GHz, which forms part of the so-called FR3 band. Integrated circuits and transmitter architectures with high efficiency, output power, and linearity for 6G signals will be studied. The interface to the antennas and their impedance variations will also be taken into account. For the full announcement, please see https://lu.varbi.com/what:job/jobID:937571/.
