Your upcoming role As a Depot Vehicle Operations Manager, you will have operational responsibility during your work shifts to ensure that available vehicles are assigned to all departures within the vehicle areas you manage. The role is primarily operational and requires continuous focus on daily operations, while also requiring some forward planning to create and maintain sustainable vehicle scheduling. You are also responsible for ensuring that vehicles put into service meet applicable traffic safety and roadworthiness requirements according to SJ's regulations. The role involves close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, where clear and effective communication is essential for operations to function smoothly. During traffic disruptions, vehicle shortages, or other operational deviations, the work pace can be high, which requires stress resilience, prioritization skills, and a solution-oriented work approach. Work is conducted in a 24/7 operation and is performed primarily according to a three-shift schedule, which means working day, evening, and night shifts. Comfort with shift work and the ability to work unconventional hours are therefore prerequisites for the role. Work responsibilities: Schedule SJ vehicles and ensure that trains consist of the vehicles specified in the train plan. Collaborate with workshop planners and maintenance providers to ensure vehicle availability. Verify that vehicles are traffic-safe according to available systems and applicable regulations. Ensure that vehicles meet requirements for safety and inspection intervals. Receive, register, and manage fault reports in relevant support systems. Participate in quality monitoring and operational development work. Collaborate with SJ traffic control during traffic disruptions. Develop and prepare operational decision-making and planning documentation for operations. As a Depot Vehicle Operations Manager, you are part of the Vehicle Division, which is responsible for the vehicle fleet's lifecycle and must ensure timely delivery of complete, clean, and safe trains. The Vehicle Division develops and maintains SJ's vehicle fleet, ensures appropriate vehicle quality, efficient maintenance production through good planning, and balances maintenance needs and capacity. Hagalund Depot is SJ's largest depot with approximately 360 employees and 30,000 departures/year. At Hagalund Depot, many different activities take place with responsibility for operationally managing maintenance for all SJ vehicles. Expectations of the person we're seeking As a depot vehicle operations manager, you work in an operational environment where conditions can change rapidly. You need to be able to make well-founded decisions in real time, prioritize between multiple simultaneous tasks, and maintain focus even during periods of high work pace. The role requires strong analytical skills, a structured work approach, and the ability to quickly translate information into operational measures. You communicate and collaborate easily with different functions, both internally and externally, and understand the importance of creating clarity in an operation that depends on many stakeholders. At the same time, you are self-directed, take your own initiative, and drive the work forward with great responsibility. We are looking for someone who thrives in an operational environment where problem-solving, collaboration, and a proactive work approach are essential to ensure stable traffic production. We are looking for someone who has: Experience from operational activities, preferably from a 24/7 operation. Three-year upper secondary education or equivalent. Experience from similar operational roles and knowledge of system support for vehicle management, which is meritorious. Very good command of Swedish, both spoken and written. Very good experience with planning and coordination work. Experience from the railway or train industry, which is highly meritorious. Post-secondary education in trains is highly meritorious, such as train driver or train technician.
