About Us
Forensic Psychiatry is a unique operation within Sahlgrenska University Hospital, located in Gunnilse approximately 20 minutes from central Gothenburg by public transport. Our mission is to provide individually tailored psychiatric care and rehabilitation to patients committed to forensic psychiatric care. The operation provides both outpatient and inpatient care in facilities with enhanced security classification and also cares for patients under other legislation requiring acute psychiatric specialty care. Our goal is for patients to live a life in society without relapse in crime related to mental illness.
We invest in research through our research unit CELAM (Center for Ethics, Law, and Mental Health), located at Rågården. This position is placed on one of our rehabilitation units where care periods are often long, creating excellent opportunities for rehabilitation interventions and close knowledge of the patients.
About the Job
We are looking for a dedicated day shift registered nurse for one of our inpatient units within forensic psychiatry. You always work together with a nurse colleague and become an important part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, social workers, care assistants, and treatment assistants.
In this role, you are responsible for patient care and medical follow-up through medication management, specimen collection, and clinical assessments. You also conduct clinical assessments of patients' psychiatric health status and actively participate in care planning and follow-ups. As a nurse, you have a central function as the responsible nurse and team leader, where you contribute to ensuring safe, secure, and person-centered care. Here you have the opportunity to develop in an operation where collaboration, quality, and patient safety permeate daily work.
The position begins as a project employment for at least nine months with good opportunities for permanent employment. Working hours are scheduled for daytime, Monday–Friday, with weekends and public holidays off, and comprises full-time work (40 hours per week). This is an excellent opportunity if you are seeking long-term employment and want to develop within forensic psychiatric care in an operation with high engagement and strong team spirit.
About You
We are looking for you who are a licensed registered nurse. Experience in psychiatric care is meriting, as is further education in psychiatry.
To thrive in this role, you are a secure and stable person with genuine interest in people in vulnerable situations. You have the ability to create trusting relationships by listening, understanding, setting clear boundaries, and motivating patients. As a nurse, you are expected to take responsibility, make independent decisions, and contribute to good collaboration in the team.
You work in a structured and solution-focused manner, adapt easily to changing circumstances, and can prioritize in an operation where conditions can shift rapidly. Furthermore, you are flexible, resourceful, and have the ability to plan and organize your work independently.
In your role as responsible nurse, you also have the ability to lead, delegate, and coordinate work tasks based on patient needs and the team's combined expertise. You appreciate working both close to patients and with operations development and see opportunities to contribute to improvement work and care development.
The work requires participation in self-defense training. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
