The Swedish Armed Forces is in an expansion phase and on a comprehensive growth journey. The Swedish Armed Forces' cyber defense is an integrated part of the military defense and constitutes a military-strategic resource. Cyber Defense has the capacity to conduct offensive and defensive cyber operations as well as to detect, identify, and counter threats from the most qualified actors. The effects of a cyber attack can have equally significant consequences for critical societal functions as a conventional armed attack. The Cyber Defense Unit is seeking you to lead and continue developing cyber defense capabilities within the framework of a corresponding SOC.
Our unit shall be prepared to face an opponent at the state-actor level. Our operations require high precision and expert competence. This means they place high demands on effective leadership to make the right decisions at the right time, but also to have prepared specialists for what lies ahead.
As Deputy Department Chief, you are primarily responsible for technical monitoring and development, but also for replacing the Department Chief during their absence. Examples of main work tasks:
Lead the department's operational capacity in peace, crisis, and war with focus on technology
Lead the department's capability development within cyber with focus on technology
Coordinate and monitor the department's projects
Replace the Department Chief during their absence
Qualifications:
Previous experience in functional leadership regarding cyber-technical or IT-technical projects/operations/activities
Swedish citizen
Class B driver's license
Meritorious:
Specialist officer within cyber, communications, electronic warfare, or systems technician
University degree in data or equivalent competence as assessed by the employer
Completed military basic training

What We Offer:
Within the Swedish Armed Forces' Cyber Defense, you are offered continuous competence development so that you can further develop in your role and receive the conditions required for you to succeed in your assignment. The work also includes continuous basic military capability, as our personnel hold combatant status. Those lacking military basic training will undergo the Swedish Armed Forces' general training (AMU) to obtain a basic understanding of military activities and personal proficiency. We can offer a varied workday with an extremely important purpose of ultimately defending our democracy and freedom. Other Requirements:
You should not tell other people than your closest associates that you have applied for a position at the 2nd Cyber Defense Unit. Employment with the Swedish Armed Forces requires Swedish citizenship. Employment includes national and international service obligations. The position has combatant status, which means you must be able to handle and use weapons. You will receive this training from us. A security vetting with record check will be conducted before employment. The selection process will be supplemented with work-psychological tests. Employment form: Permanent employment, 6-month probation applies to you not currently employed with the Swedish Armed Forces.

At Headquarters, the Supreme Commander and Director General are located. Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees—both professional officers and civilian experts. From January 1, 2023, Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, Operations Command, Military Intelligence and Security Service, and Headquarters Staff Division and independent supervisory units.
Employment with us involves placement in a security classification. Swedish citizenship is usually required. Security vetting with record check will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment includes an obligation to be placed for wartime service.
