As a controller at the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), you'll contribute to strengthening Sweden's crisis preparedness and civil defense within health, care, and social services. About the position In this role, you'll work as a controller focused on the National Board of Health and Welfare's operations in crisis preparedness and civil defense. You'll provide qualified financial support and help the organization plan, prioritize, and follow up on its work within the health, care, and social services sector. You'll be a close support to managers on matters concerning budgets, forecasts, and other financial reporting. The role also includes monthly closings, annual reports, quality assurance, and developing and monitoring key metrics. You'll also contribute to developing financial management, working methods, and system support. As a controller, you'll be part of the controller group at the finance department. Here you'll work closely together with mutual support, experience sharing, and joint development, while also maintaining many contact points with colleagues and managers in other parts of the agency. About you To thrive and succeed in this role, you have a holistic perspective and strong analytical skills. You work in a structured manner with high precision, even when dealing with complex information, and you demonstrate integrity in your assessments. You're accustomed to independently driving your work while collaborating well with others. As a controller, you also need to be pedagogical and able to explain financial results, relationships, and processes clearly, as well as adapt your support to different managers' and operations' needs. Operational conditions and requirements change, which means you need to be flexible and able to switch between different assignments and questions. We're looking for someone with - Academic degree in economics or equivalent education that the agency finds relevant - Several years of current work experience with budgets, follow-up, and forecasts - Experience working with public investments or similar - Very good knowledge of Excel and financial administrative systems - Strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish It's a merit if you have - Worked as a controller in a public agency or equivalent role in a larger complex operation - Good knowledge of the financial administrative regulations within the state - Experience working with ordering authorization - Experience with inventory accounting - Several years of current experience with accounting in a complex operation - Experience working in crisis preparedness, civil defense, total defense, or other socially important operations - Experience with financial management in larger complex environments with high demands on security and continuity Good to know The position is a permanent full-time employment, beginning with a six-month probationary period. You'll be based at the office on Västerbroplan in Stockholm, but have the opportunity to work remotely up to two days per week. In spring 2027, we'll move to Solna Strand. Your job title will be Controller, and your placement will be at the finance department at the National Board of Health and Welfare. The position is classified for security purposes, and a security clearance with background check will be conducted before an employment decision is made.
