We have operations at several locations in Västra Götaland but also in other parts of Sweden as we are responsible for IT operations for all regional government administrations. About the Job Are you a leader with experience in public administration who also has interest and understanding of wildlife issues? Then perhaps you are our new chief of the Wildlife Function. As part of our wildlife function, you work with the management of the region's wild animals. The role encompasses a broad area of responsibility where wildlife management, with particular focus on wolves, and ungulate management with emphasis on moose, constitute central parts. In addition to this, the function is responsible for the management of, among other things, wild boar, seals, cormorants and large grazing birds, as well as handles matters related to CITES legislation. The function consists of 9 full-time employees and 10 employees who work hourly with surveys. All employees are currently based in Vänersborg. The Wildlife Function is part of the Nature and Water Department, which consists of approximately 230 employees distributed across four units: the Natural Environment Unit, the Nature and Water Affairs Unit, the Restoration and Management of Nature and Water Unit, and the Water Authority Unit for the Western Sea. The department works on issues concerning biological diversity, sustainable use of nature and water resources, promotion of outdoor recreation, and wildlife and fisheries management. We also have responsibility for one of Sweden's five water authorities. In your role as chief of the function, you are responsible for driving and developing the function's operations from a holistic perspective that serves the agency's best interests. Through health-promoting leadership, you create conditions for the development of both operations and employees. The main duties of the position are: Drive and develop the function's operations. Lead and develop employees within the function. Lead in times of change and manage goal conflicts both in the form of rules and goals that conflict with each other as well as different external interests. Take responsibility for operations, personnel and finances. Participate in the department's management group, where you together with the other three function chiefs and the department head work to serve the best interests of the entire department, division and Regional Government Administration. Participate in, develop and maintain collaborations both internally and externally, including the Wildlife Management Delegation. Work Location: Gothenburg, Vänersborg or Mariestad Travel is included in the position. About You We are looking for a confident and goal-oriented leader who has the ability to drive and develop operations and lead and develop employees. For you to thrive and succeed in this assignment, you need to be development-oriented and have strategic ability. The role requires that you have a holistic view and the ability to prioritize from a holistic perspective. Your communication is clear and inspiring, where you create understanding for the whole and the context. The work requires good ability in conflict and problem-solving where you face goal and rule conflicts as well as conflicting interests in contact with external parties. Perseverance is also an important quality to drive the work forward. You also need to be able to handle uncertainties and make decisions even when all information is not available. You are responsive and have a trustful and health-promoting leadership style with a good ability to create and maintain trusting relationships both internally and externally. You have: University education for example in natural sciences, law, political science, etc., or education in combination with work experience deemed equivalent. Interest, knowledge and understanding of the subject area's conditions, development and challenges. At least one year of current and documented experience as a manager with personnel responsibility. Experience in planning, budgeting and following up on operations and personnel. Experience, interest and ability to drive and develop operations, lead and develop people, and lead in times of change. Experience and ability to handle situations when different goals and interests conflict with each other. Experience of working within public administration.
