The National Library of Sweden is now seeking an engaged and strategic unit head who wants to lead our operations in coordinating metadata in KB's systems and services. The unit is also responsible for ensuring national coordination and practice of metadata to support metadata work within the library sector. Here you will have the opportunity to contribute to shaping the conditions for how Sweden's cultural heritage is described, organized, and made searchable for future generations. Duties As unit head, you are responsible for leading, planning, and developing operations in metadata and national bibliography. The operations are in a development phase with a focus on technical development, adaptation to future needs, and collaboration internally and externally. You have an important role in driving this work forward. You are responsible for leading and monitoring operations, finances, and personnel in close collaboration with both internal and external partners, and you represent the operations in national and sector-wide contexts. As part of the department's management group, you contribute to achieving KB's strategic goals together with other unit heads and strategists. As a manager at KB, you lead with confidence and serve as a role model and culture bearer who takes holistic responsibility by creating conditions for employees to develop and achieve results. You work with clarity and feedback in assignments, expectations, and create the right conditions for participation, influence, and a sustainable work environment. You connect operational work to KB's vision and goals and help drive KB's development work in dialogue with colleagues, employees, and the outside world. Qualifications and Personal Characteristics To succeed in this role, you need: current and relevant management experience with personnel, budget, and operational responsibility experience leading knowledge-intensive operations experience working with metadata and a good understanding of how metadata interacts with technical development of systems and services experience with and ability to lead and drive business development good communication skills in both speech and writing in Swedish and English academic degree in library/archive science or equivalent competence Meritorious: experience with metadata issues within the library sector knowledge of book flows, cataloging, and metadata standards work experience with agile development methods experience with automation initiatives Personal Characteristics We are seeking a strategic and well-organized leader with a strong overview. Employment and Start Date This is a permanent position that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement. The position is based in central Stockholm. Unit for Metadata and National Bibliography The unit is part of the Department for Acquisition and Metadata and consists of approximately 20 employees. The unit is responsible for coordinating metadata in KB's systems and services and ensuring national coordination and practice of metadata. The mission includes securing reliable and functional metadata for the Swedish national bibliography.
