Do you want to lead and develop health economics work in some of the welfare sector's most current and socially important areas? At the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare, you will have the opportunity to work with your colleagues to contribute to analyses and decision-making support that is important for the development of healthcare, dental care and social services. We are now recruiting a Head of Unit for Health Economics. About the role As a unit head, you will lead the work at the Unit for Health Economics, which is one of eight units within the Analysis Department. At the unit, employees work with expertise in health economics, national economics and welfare economics. Together, you will provide economic perspectives in the National Board's analytical work and produce analyses and decision-making support on, for example, resource use, costs, effects and priorities in healthcare, dental care and social services. In the role, you will be part of the Analysis Department's management team and work closely with the department head and other unit heads. An important part of your assignment is to contribute to the development of the department's operations in line with the National Board's mandate, goals and strategy. The work involves close collaboration with other parts of the agency and with external actors. To succeed in the role, you need to be able to see the bigger picture, build good relationships and contribute to integrating health economics perspectives in the agency's work. Responsibility for operations, employees, budget and results are part of the role. Together with employees and management colleagues, you create the conditions for the operations to achieve their goals through clear priorities, structure and direction. About you and your leadership You are a confident, clear and development-oriented leader who creates engagement and participation. You have the ability to translate goals and strategies into concrete results. An important focus in your leadership is to leverage employee expertise and create good conditions for collaboration, learning and development. You have a good ability to prioritize and make decisions and create clarity even in complex situations. In the role, you need to be able to switch between a strategic holistic perspective and the operations' operational needs. You build trusting relationships and collaborate effectively with employees, colleagues and external actors. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities and your leadership. We are looking for someone who has academic education in health economics, national economics or another area that the employer deems relevant multiple years of experience planning, designing and conducting health economics, national economics or equivalent welfare economics analyses multiple years of experience in management with personnel and budget responsibility experience leading change and development work with good results. It is advantageous if you have a doctoral degree in health economics, national economics or equivalent field experience with economic analyses in healthcare, social services or dental care experience with register studies, microdata analyses or equivalent quantitative analysis methods experience with cost-effectiveness analyses and development of health economics models experience with economic impact assessments experience working within a government agency. Good to know The position is a permanent full-time employment and begins with a six-month probationary period. The position is based at Västerbroplan in Stockholm, but in spring 2027 we are relocating to Solna strand. You have flexible working hours and arrange them in consultation with your manager. Your job title will be Unit Head and you will be placed in the Analysis Department.
