About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding our operations, and we are now recruiting more staff. We are the agency responsible for prisons, community corrections, remand centers, and client transportation. Community Corrections Mälardalen has operations in Eskilstuna, Nyköping, Västerås, and Uppsala. Here, approximately 250 staff members and 11 managers work to reduce the risk of clients reoffending and thereby increase safety in society. Community Corrections conducts personal assessments and supervises clients who are conditionally released, under protective supervision, sentenced to community service, or monitored through electronic monitoring/intensive supervision. Community Corrections also implements various treatment programs. The Community Corrections offices are centrally located in their respective cities. Job Description Within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you work with a complex and important societal mission where you can make a difference. As a manager in Community Corrections, you have both an operational and strategic role, and it is important that you can quickly shift between different tasks and adapt when needed. The position is operationally close and involves, among other things, making decisions regarding our clients and supporting your staff in our complex mission. Community Corrections is undergoing a period of change that includes implementing new legislation and developing security work. We also place great emphasis on improving both internal and external collaboration. Our operations are growing rapidly and we face several challenging tasks that involve developing our activities, our organization, and collaboration with other actors. As a manager, you lead, develop, and monitor the operations and provide support to your staff in their daily work. Your responsibilities include personnel, budget, and workplace environment responsibility for approximately 15-20 staff members who primarily work as Criminal Justice Inspectors. You will be part of the management team where assistant Community Corrections managers, Community Corrections managers, and your management colleagues form an important platform for your leadership. You are clear in your communication and can adapt your message based on the recipient's circumstances. You remain calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changing conditions. In your professional role, you have an analytical perspective, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work with your staff to drive development and change initiatives within one of the world's best prison and probation systems. The role requires experience navigating an environment with many demands, extensive regulations, and a need for collaboration. Experience leading operations in a dynamic and rule-governed context is therefore central. Of course, you have strong civic engagement and you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's core values of a humane worldview, respect for the individual, and belief in people's will and ability to develop. You also have an understanding of how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
