As a unit manager for youth recreation and sports operations, you will lead a team of custodians and a team of recreation leaders and field coordinators. Youth recreation currently consists of two recreation centers, Kvisten and Kumlaby, which are open Monday through Saturday each week. In addition to our recreation centers, staff work with other youth-related activities, such as school break activities, sports activities, outings, and more. The two field coordinators in youth recreation work proactively with young people both in the community and at municipal schools and recreation centers.
The custodians are responsible for the maintenance and operation of our ice hall, artificial grass field, bowling hall, Sörby sports center, Kumlahallen, and Fritidsbanken. As a unit manager, you will be part of a relatively new unit, formed in fall 2025.
Kumla Municipality has a leadership platform that clarifies our offering in relation to the needs, expectations, and requirements for managers/leaders at different levels and at different stages of employment. As a new manager in Kumla, you will participate in orientation during your first year as well as several training programs related to your management role. As a manager, you will also participate together with your 90 management colleagues at management breakfasts and leadership forums several times a year. WORK DUTIES
You lead and distribute work in the unit and have responsibility for the work environment for 16 employees. The work also involves collaboration within the department, the municipality, across departmental boundaries, and with external partners.
We offer you varied work with great freedom to influence and develop your operations based on the goals and budget of the unit. You will have close contact with both residents and community organizations, and you are offered very diverse work where you will interact with many different people and where service is always in focus. You will also work together with colleagues in the recreation department and be one of two unit managers in the department.

We are looking for someone with previous experience working as a manager and experience in leading others. You have personal maturity and are calm, stable, and confident in your leadership role. It is desirable that you have a higher education degree or other education that is deemed relevant for the position. We would like to see that you have experience from a personnel-intensive operation, and it is especially valuable if this experience comes from work in sports and community organizations or youth activities.
Knowledge of labor law, budgeting, and finance is meriting. It is desirable if you have experience with the systems Personec, Adato, Stella, ERP, and W3D3.
