About the Workplace As a group manager, you will be based centrally on Kungsholmen in Stockholm and be part of the over 1,400-person strong IT department that works side by side with those in police operations who use and depend on the solutions. The IT department is absolutely crucial for the police to fulfill its mission now and in the future. Our grouping, which is responsible for technical virtualization capabilities, is organized within the Operations and Infrastructure unit and is part of the Platform section. In addition to virtualization responsibilities, the section is responsible for delivering IT support related to Linux/Windows server, Database, Container environments, and CI/CD capabilities. The group/team currently consists of 6 employees who are technical specialists focused on virtualization. The team's primary responsibility is to ensure appropriate operations of the police's virtualization capabilities tied to VMware. Part of your role will also be to serve as a product owner, responsible for ensuring that the technical capabilities the group is responsible for are developed and maintained according to agreed strategies and goals. As digitalization increases and crime moves into digital arenas, the police must handle ever-larger volumes of data, leverage new technologies, and stay one step ahead of criminals, while maintaining security and legal certainty. As the police IT environment scales up and modernizes, virtualization work becomes increasingly important. VMware components make up a large part of the police's server environment and are essential for ensuring a stable IT infrastructure and contributing to the crime-fighting mission. The role will therefore offer good opportunities to influence direction and development work, both within the Platform section and more closely within virtualization/VMware. As a group manager, you report to the Platform section manager and are part of the section's management group, where you collectively ensure that assignments are completed and drive the section's and agency's change and development efforts. The Platform section has a very engaged management group where everyone contributes from their perspective on both group-related and section-wide matters. There is also a willingness to continuously develop operations and collaborate to achieve common goals. Furthermore, as a group manager, you represent the Swedish Police Authority both internally and externally and work to strengthen confidence in police operations. Being a manager and leader within the Swedish Police Authority means creating security and building trust through exercising honest, courageous, and attentive leadership with confidence in others' competence and ability. As a manager, you drive development by inspiring and encouraging reflection and feedback in a way that is based on following the law and treating people equally. Qualifications This is an opportunity for you who have: Relevant degree/education for the position, preferably with an IT focus At least 3–5 years of consecutive recent experience working as a manager with full personnel and budget responsibility Participated in a management group or equivalent management forum Recent experience within the relevant operational area, work related to IT operations/IT infrastructure, preferably from a complex IT environment Good technical understanding/comprehensive technical competence, preferably around the IT infrastructure area, for example regarding networks/firewalls, containers, servers, backup/storage Good competence in handling matters concerning finance as well as licensing and contract management related to the IT area Experience participating in change and development work relevant to the position Very good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing, and good knowledge of English in speech and writing The position requires Swedish citizenship. We consider it a merit if you, in addition to or in connection with the above, have: Professional experience with virtualization, for example regarding VMware, Red Hat OpenShift, Hyper-V Experience leading others toward established goals and results Management and leadership training at direct, indirect, and/or strategic level When we hire, we will place great emphasis on personal qualities and leadership abilities.
