The Swedish National Land Survey (Lantmäteriet) is the authority that maps Sweden. The Swedish National Land Survey is the state surveying authority and administrative authority for matters concerning property subdivision, basic geographic information, property information, and registration. The Swedish National Land Survey is governed by, among other things, the government's annual appropriations letter and is a board-governed authority. The Director General is the Swedish National Land Survey's chief executive. We are now strengthening the staff around the Director General and are therefore seeking a Chief of Staff. Today there are two employees on the staff and it will be expanded with a number of competencies in the near future. You will have the opportunity to influence and shape working methods and processes and create results in close cooperation with others. One goal of the Director General's staff is coordinated and unified support. 1 position(s). TASKS The Director General's staff provides strategic and administrative management support to the Director General and coordinates certain authority-wide issues. The staff has tasks such as coordinating, initiating, and driving matters in relation to the Government Offices, assisting the legal counsel with regulatory development, coordinating the Director General's matters and preparation of such matters for decision, quality assuring and following up certain of the authority's planning, governing, and supporting documents, and providing administrative support to the board, Director General, and management group. It also includes responsibility for planning and coordinating the work of the Swedish National Land Survey's management group and board work. As Chief of Staff, you also are responsible for conducting authority-wide analysis/environmental analysis and investigation work as well as developing materials and reports for the authority's management. As Chief of Staff, you have a central role in supporting the chief executive and streamlining management work. The staff is responsible for supporting the Director General in his task of directing, leading, and monitoring the authority's overall operations, and the Chief of Staff often functions as a link between the Director General and the organization's senior managers as well as external actors. This means you personally provide strategic and operational support to the Director General. An important task for the Chief of Staff is to lead the staff work by building up, leading, and driving the staff and the work there. The Chief of Staff is responsible for preparing matters and materials and for the agenda for management group and board meetings. You are a key person in ensuring that the chief executive's decisions are communicated and implemented in the organization. The Chief of Staff also leads the staff's work and has overall responsibility for operations, budget, and personnel. The assignment also includes independently carrying out tasks on your own initiative or from the Director General. You will support and direct operations in a changing time that sets new demands. The role requires good cooperation within and outside the staff and with labor representatives and safety delegates. You are a role model as a manager and leader. Placement is at the Swedish National Land Survey's offices in Gävle, Uppsala, or Stockholm. The majority of staff members are located in Gävle, which is why regular presence in Gävle is required. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who have an academic degree or equivalent work experience and at least five years of qualified and current work experience leading operational and strategic management work that continuously provides support to top management in a larger organization. Experience from a government agency or within the Government Offices is a requirement. You should also have extensive experience working with strategic development issues and long-term change work in a complex operation. You have experience working in an authority's top management group and experience handling media attention. You have experience working in collaboration and dialogue both within and outside your own organization, leading in complex organizations with cross-functional groups, and development work through portfolio management. Your ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish is very good. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. You have high capacity and you thrive with many issues ongoing at the same time. Beyond this, you have the personal ability and aptitude to work in accordance with the Swedish National Land Survey's employee, manager, and leadership criteria. Working in the government means you follow the government values framework. Special requirements are also placed on judgment, security awareness, and that you follow applicable laws. The position is security classified, which means you must be a Swedish citizen and a security clearance with background check and security clearance interview will be conducted before employment.
