Building Permit Officer / Building Inspector – Jämtland Region
We are seeking experienced building permit officers and building inspectors for upcoming consulting assignments in the Jämtland region. This is an authority-oriented role for someone who masters the Planning and Building Act and enjoys making correct and well-founded assessments in contact with applicants, developers, and colleagues.
About the assignment
Assignments may include building permit processing, technical consultations, inspections, or working through case backlogs during a period. We are looking for someone who wants to be available for upcoming consulting assignments where your expertise can quickly make a difference in a professional and community-focused operation. The exact content, scope, and working methods vary between assignments.
Responsibilities
Process building permits, notifications, and preliminary decisions
Conduct technical consultations, site visits, and final consultations
Perform inspections according to the Planning and Building Act
Prepare decision documentation and write decisions
Provide service and guidance to applicants, businesses, and the public
Requirements for the role
Relevant education in construction, architecture, urban development, or equivalent
At least 2 years of experience in building permit processing, building inspection, or related work
Solid knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and associated regulations
Very good Swedish in speech and writing
Class B driver's license
Merits
Experience from municipal building permit operations
Experience with digital case management systems for building permits
Experience with cultural heritage, shoreline protection, or detail plan interpretation
Experience managing case backlogs

Workplace and structure
Assignments are located in the Jämtland region and may involve on-site work at the facility, hybrid arrangements, or in some cases remote work. For certain roles, travel within the region may occur. The exact workplace, working hours, and practical arrangements will always be presented before you decide on a specific assignment. Assignment length and scope vary – full-time or part-time depending on the assignment. Start dates are ongoing.
