Job Responsibilities As a firefighter, you are often first on scene at fires and accidents and need to remain calm and confident even in stressful situations. But equally important is your empathetic ability. A large part of the job involves preventing accidents through information and education, both in quick encounters in a stairwell and in a classroom, and therefore we believe you are good at communicating with people and building trust. The role also includes training, education, and maintenance of equipment. As you can hear, no two days are the same. You need the ability to see the big picture and quickly adapt to new situations. You should be able to help people in crisis as well as handle practical aspects related to the profession. The profession therefore requires physical, practical, and social skills, and that you are driven, responsive, and good at collaboration. Why RSG? Beyond that, you need to have: You need to have: - SMO diploma, alternatively, SRV's previous 15-week firefighter training. - alternatively, at least five years of experience as a RiB firefighter at RSG and Grib training. - Worked at least 3 months full-time as a firefighter at a rescue service. - Certificate of swimming and lifesaving test Guldbojen. - Category C driver's license - Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form Meritorious It is meritorious if you have worked for a longer period as a firefighter or if you have training or experience in healthcare and/or care or practical trade professions. We also consider it meritorious if you have experience as a leader and/or educator or have completed military service. Perhaps you hold a CE driver's license with experience handling heavy vehicles? Recruitment Process After we receive your application, a selection is made based on requirements and merits. If you proceed, you will be called for a test day at Friidrottens hus in Gothenburg and have the opportunity, subject to availability, to choose one of the dates: September 15 or 29. The employment tests consist, in no particular order, of stress, physical, and height tests. If you have previously completed stress and/or height tests with a passing result, you will not repeat that component again. After passing tests, you will be called for a digital interview. After that, further selection is made and if you proceed, references are taken and the final step in the process is a treadmill test 5.6 km/h, 8°, medical examinations according to AFS 2023:15, and alcohol and drug testing. The work involves shift work, which currently includes two shifts with split days on weekdays and full days on Saturdays and Sundays. You will be employed by Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg and your placement will be at one of the full-time stations in the federation. Start date spring 2027. With employment comes civil defense placement with general service obligation, which means you may be called to serve in the event of heightened readiness within total defense.
