We maintain round-the-clock readiness at our five fire stations on Blidö, in Norrtälje, Hallstavik, Rimbo, and Älmsta. Our mission to provide rescue services is not only in everyday situations but is also an important part of civil defense. The prevention mission includes information, advice, and guidance to residents as well as training for students and employees in the municipality. The Fire and Rescue Service is responsible for fire safety inspections and licensing and supervision matters regarding the handling of flammable and explosive materials. We conduct fire safety inspections in-house and are responsible for chimney sweeping carried out by contracted entrepreneurs. The rescue and mitigation operations include rescue efforts for fires, accidents, releases of environmentally hazardous substances, and other emergencies. We collaborate with twelve other rescue service organizations in the Eastern Svealand Rescue Region. About the Position We are now recruiting firefighters for the part-time station in Älmsta. With this position, you combine your regular job with work as a firefighter. As a firefighter at our part-time station, you maintain readiness during predetermined times. You can hold readiness from home, from your regular workplace, or wherever works for you, as long as you can arrive at the station within six minutes when the alarm sounds. In Älmsta, we have four shifts that together maintain readiness around the clock, every day of the week. There are several different schedule options, and we are flexible in finding a solution that suits you. However, to find a suitable solution, you should live or work in Älmsta. In this work, you never know what to expect, and it is a very diverse and exciting profession. We assist with many fires and traffic accidents, but we also respond to many other alarms. Examples include water rescue, animal rescue, and cleanup from hazardous material releases. We are also a resource for cardiac arrests and other medical emergencies. Qualifications When you apply to our part-time station in Älmsta, there are no requirements for prior professional experience as a firefighter—we will provide the necessary training upon employment. Instead, in our recruitment process, we look for various qualities and personal characteristics that are important in the complex work of being a firefighter. Social competence, technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and a natural aptitude for service-oriented and respectful conduct are some of the qualities we value highly and need in a team. To achieve as broad a range of competence as possible in our teams, we seek people with different backgrounds and experience. We are looking for someone with great commitment who can be available for emergency response during part of their time. To work as a firefighter, you must have a Class B driver's license and good knowledge of Swedish, as clear communication is a very important part of the work. In Norrtälje Municipality, there are six fire teams. One full-time team in Norrtälje and five part-time teams located in Älmsta, Hallstavik, Rimbo, Norrtälje, and on Blidö.
