Job Responsibilities Do you want to work with some of Sweden's most complex risk environments while helping shape how society develops in the future? This role could be for you. As a fire safety engineer at Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg, you will have a varied and developmentally rich assignment where you work both in prevention and operational preparedness. The current position is divided roughly equally between work according to the Planning and Building Act (PBL) and Hazardous Activities according to LSO 2:4. This combination gives you a broad and cohesive role with excellent opportunities to both develop and deepen your specialist expertise. Within PBL, you are the fire and rescue service's expert in urban planning. You participate in planning and building processes and work closely with city planning offices, other authorities, building actors, and the fire and rescue service's operational organization. Your expertise is needed throughout the entire societal development process, from comprehensive plans and detailed plans to building permits, renovations, and demolitions. You will have the opportunity to influence how our member municipalities develop from a safety and risk perspective and will lead projects and development work within your area of specialization in risk. A current example is work on thematic specialization that will replace Gothenburg city's temporary guidance and address issues related to both hazardous goods transportation and Seveso-classified activities. The second part of the position covers work with Hazardous Activities according to LSO 2:4, where you act both as a case handler and supervisory official. Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg has the most classified activities according to LSO 2:4 in Sweden, including several complex and large-scale industries. This means you will work with operations where risk profiles are extensive and where your expertise makes a real difference. As a fire safety engineer, you contribute to identifying, understanding, and managing risks before they develop into serious incidents. The work involves close cooperation with business operators, other authorities, and the fire and rescue service's operational organization. Other Information Employment with Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg may involve placement in a security classification. Security vetting with background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted before an employment decision is made. For certain positions classified in security class, Swedish citizenship is also required. Employment includes war placement within Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg with general service obligation, which means you are obligated to serve during heightened alert or war.
