Brå works to reduce crime and increase safety in society. Do you want to be part of this work? Brå's mission is to promote crime prevention through development, research, statistics, and knowledge dissemination, primarily for the government and authorities within the justice system. Our office is located on Fleminggatan in central Stockholm. We currently have approximately 220 employees. About the Job For the Unit for Statistical Surveys, we are now seeking an investigator to work in a function that conducts and authors so-called short analyses. In this role, quantitative methods are used to answer specific and sometimes complex questions based on existing data, which may come from the agency's own surveys and registers or from external authorities and actors. Work on short analyses is carried out on a project basis and includes, among other things, knowledge acquisition, data analysis, and authoring of reports of approximately 30 pages. There is generally more room for flexibility in planning compared to the agency's other report production, in part to meet stakeholders' needs for current knowledge. Examples of recently published short analyses: Where do shootings and explosions occur? A statistical analysis of geographic concentration and regional differences. https://bra.se/rapporter/arkiv/2025-06-11-var-intraffar-skjutningar-och-sprangningar The Development of Prison Population and Prison Sentences – a statistical analysis of legislative changes for crimes committed. 2011–2022 https://bra.se/rapporter/arkiv/2025-11-11-utvecklingen-av-straffmassan-och-strafftider Expelled Persons Convicted of Crime – a statistical analysis of executed deportations and continued criminality. https://bra.se/rapporter/arkiv/2026-05-07-utvisningsdomda-i-brottmal The position involves largely independent work with the ability to manage the planning and implementation of short analysis projects, while receiving substantial support from the rest of the team through regular check-ins where you can discuss ideas about, for example, analysis methods and presentation of results, to ensure that the short analyses maintain high quality. There is also collaboration with others on the unit and with other units at Brå. Your Education and Experience We are looking for someone who has - a university degree in sociology, investigative sociology, sociological social analysis, criminology with a focus on quantitative methods, or other education/experience that Brå deems equivalent - very good knowledge of quantitative methods - good knowledge of statistical processing using SPSS, SAS, R, or similar - good skills in expressing yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. It is advantageous to have a master's degree or higher education. Your Personal Qualities As a person, you have good analytical ability and can work in a structured and thorough manner. You can prioritize tasks and have experience managing multiple tasks in parallel. You are clear in your communication, find it easy to collaborate but also to work independently. We also appreciate that you are curious and unpretentious, have sound judgment, and an interest in the justice system. In the recruitment process, we place great importance on personal qualities. Terms of Employment The employment is a full-time temporary position until January 2028 with start as soon as possible according to agreement. Brå applies a 6-month probationary period and individual salary setting. Please read more about Brå and the benefits we offer at https://bra.se/om-bra/jobba-hos-oss.html.
