Residential Support Worker at Laban Short-Term Home - Temporary Position

We are looking for a residential support worker interested in working with us at Laban short-term home as a temporary/casual staff member. As a casual worker, you fill in when regular staff are sick or on vacation. Children and young people come to our short-term home after their daily activities (school, after-school care, and day programs). Most stay at the short-term home one week per month and spend time with friends and staff. Your Responsibilities Short-term residential stays outside the home (short-term home) are services provided under Section 9, Paragraph 6 of the Act on Support and Services for Persons with Certain Disabilities (LSS). As a residential support worker at Laban short-term home, you work to support, motivate, and encourage children and young people to develop their own ability to perform daily living activities, as well as create conditions for an active and meaningful life. You work based on an implementation plan that we develop together with the child/young person according to our mandate. This can involve social, structural, or communicative support, or other individualized support in daily living. We take trips and outdoor activities with the children and young people, and we visit cultural events. Contact with guardians and other networks is part of the work and is an important element. We are looking for temporary staff primarily for weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Qualifications We are looking for someone with a degree from a Health and Care Program, Children and Recreation Program, support assistant training, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer. Post-secondary education in the field of disabilities also qualifies you to apply. We also want you to have several years of documented work experience in this field. It should feel natural for you to work using a low-affective approach, to meet children and young people with challenging behavior, and to use alternative communication as support. Since we take trips in our minibus, it is a merit if you have a Class B driver's license.
