At the Department of Nursing Science, you will become part of a team of around 65 colleagues. Organizationally, we are one of three departments at the Academy for Health and Working Life. We offer education at basic, advanced, and doctoral levels and work to strengthen both nursing science research and interdisciplinary research.
An appointment as Assistant University Lecturer is a fixed-term qualifying position for at least four and at most six years according to the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4, Section 12 a. The purpose of the position is to develop independence as a researcher and qualify both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the requirements for employment as a University Lecturer. Primarily, applicants who have completed a doctoral degree no more than five years before the application deadline are sought.
The Academy for Health and Working Life, Department of Nursing Science at University of Gävle hereby announces a position as Assistant University Lecturer in Nursing Science.
Duties
The position includes conducting research and teaching. Work tasks related to research involve driving the production of publications and research applications in collaboration with senior researchers within the field. Research also includes collaboration with external partners, working for internationalization, and actively participating in the development of research within the field. Teaching is conducted primarily in the nursing program and our specialist nurse programs with specializations in district nursing, elderly care, intensive care, and anesthesia. In addition, supervision of theses (students' independent work) and assessment of examination assignments at basic and advanced levels, as well as some administrative tasks, are included.
Work tasks and specific areas of responsibility and their scope are determined by operational needs and may be changed accordingly in consultation between the employee and the employer. The research proportion in the position is initially 50%; this proportion can be adjusted based on needs that arise in the field or when participating in externally funded projects.

Qualifications
The position requires a doctoral degree in the field of nursing care/nursing science or a corresponding area that the employer considers equivalent. The applicant must have completed higher education pedagogy training equivalent to at least five weeks of full-time studies or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. Those who do not have five weeks of higher education pedagogy training at the time of employment will be given the opportunity to complete this within two years of employment, within the framework of the position. The applicant must also have demonstrated pedagogical skill and have good ability to communicate orally and in writing in Swedish and English, in both scientific and public contexts.
It is particularly meritorious if the applicant has documented experience of research or education in the field of nursing care/nursing science and/or person-centered care with a focus on the person receiving care/self-care, persons with long-term illness, the elderly, relatives, the care relationship, or good and safe care. It is also particularly meritorious to have practical professional experience as a nurse/specialist nurse.
It is meritorious to have documented publication of articles in international scientific journals beyond the publications included in the doctoral thesis, international collaboration, demonstrated ability to obtain external research funding, and experience of collaboration with the surrounding community.
Great weight is placed on personal qualities such as independence, ability to collaborate, initiative, and active participation and physical presence in the workplace.
