Dalarna University of Higher Education is seeking an assistant professor in mechanical engineering at one of Sweden's most modern campuses in central Borlänge. To meet future societal challenges, we want to offer you attractive education and develop and conduct significant research in the mechanical engineering field. Your daily work as an assistant professor Your responsibilities include teaching and supervising thesis projects in mechanical engineering as well as developing and maintaining responsibility for programs and courses. You will conduct and develop your own research and contribute to the advancement of the mechanical engineering discipline. Furthermore, the work involves ongoing contact with and development of collaborations with companies and other networks relevant to the field. Your day-to-day work will consist of teaching in one or more of the areas of production technology, production systems, product development, or machine design. Currently, mechanical engineering instruction is offered in the Production Technician program (120 credits) and the Assistant Technology program (180 credits). You will also be involved in developing the educational offerings. You will become part of the mechanical engineering research environment by developing your own research in a way that strengthens the shared research environment. You will contribute to research collaboration with regional, national, and international companies and in various networks. Your research may focus on production or product development, preferably with an emphasis on sustainability and circular processes or technology for people with disabilities. The position is partially financed by funds from the project Research Environment for Sustainable Industrial Processes F-HIP, and is expected to contribute to the project goals through a focus on industrial transformation and green circular industry in close collaboration with industry. Eligibility Requirements According to the Higher Education Act, an assistant professor must hold a doctoral degree or have achieved equivalent scientific competence. Preference will be given to those who have earned a doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence within the five years preceding the application deadline. However, those with a doctoral degree or equivalent competence earned earlier may also be considered if there are special circumstances. Special circumstances include leave due to illness, parental leave, or similar situations. (Higher Education Act, Chapter 4, Section 4 a) We place great emphasis on pedagogical competence. If you do not already have qualifying university pedagogy training, you are expected to acquire this competence within two years from the start of employment. Equal care will be given to the assessment of pedagogical competence as to scientific competence according to the Higher Education Act, Chapter 4. A pedagogical test will likely be applied.
