University of Gothenburg is seeking a promising researcher at the beginning of their academic career for a position as Assistant Professor in the area of resilient crime prevention. The position will be placed either at the Department of Law at the School of Business, Economics and Law or at the Department of Social Work within the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The Department of Law is part of the School of Business, Economics and Law at University of Gothenburg. The School has approximately 3,700 full-time students, 470 employees and 16 international partner universities. Through its core subjects of economics and law, the School offers a broad and internationally oriented academic environment.
The Department of Social Work is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, one of University of Gothenburg's largest faculties with around 800 employees and 13,000 students. The Faculty comprises seven departments and several research centers and institutes. Research is interdisciplinary and includes democracy, migration, sustainable development, working life and social conditions. The Faculty is characterized by close collaboration with the surrounding society and several research environments have strong national and international standing.
Duties
As an Assistant Professor, you will be part of the strategic research program Building Resilience in Crime Prevention (BRiC): Advancing Professional Knowledge of Child Vulnerability, Drug Markets and Emerging Technologies, a collaboration between Lund University, University of Gothenburg, Malmö University and Linnaeus University, funded by the Swedish Research Council.
BRiC brings together more than 60 researchers and aims to strengthen scientific and professional knowledge within crime prevention work through research in close collaboration with professionals in social services and the justice system.
The full-time position involves conducting an independent and innovative research project within the program's three central areas: child vulnerability, drug markets and emerging technologies. The research is conducted in collaboration with actors in social services, police, prosecution, courts and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
As an Assistant Professor, you are expected to:
develop an independent research profile within the program's area,
publish scientific work in collaboration with senior researchers within BRiC,
contribute to the department's and research program's academic environment.
The position initially comprises 50 percent research time. A higher proportion of research time may become relevant depending on the department's needs and available resources.
The position also includes developing pedagogical competence, collaboration skills and experience in research communication. Active participation in the department's activities and collegial work is expected throughout the employment period.

Employment form: Fixed-term employment for five years according to Chapter 4, Section 12 a of the Higher Education Ordinance, with the possibility of promotion to a permanent position as Professor.
