At Gällivare Rescue Service, you work as an important team member in a small organization. We manage a large geographical area, ranging from mines to mountains and vast mountain forests. Most of the municipality's residents live in Gällivare town, where our full-time station is also located. In our villages, we have five rescue stations that help us by being first on scene and providing initial assistance. We handle approximately 300 emergency calls per year. We collaborate with neighboring municipalities and industrial fire brigades in the area. You can read more about the municipality and what we can offer you here! javascript:void(0) Shift Commander, Gällivare Municipality As an assistant shift commander, you are a work leader for personnel in both daily operations and during emergency response. You work closely with the regular shift commander on your shift team. Together you plan and are responsible for daily operations at the station, as well as other preventive and operational activities. Being a shift commander involves leading and planning your own and your team's work based on the entire rescue service's mission, which means you and your personnel will work with both accident prevention and emergency response tasks. You work independently on your own matters/tasks, but the work also requires close collaboration with colleagues and other authorities around you. The Rescue Service in Gällivare Municipality is under development, and you will therefore have a natural role in working to improve and develop processes, routines, and working methods in the operation. You are expected to have the ambition and desire to develop the operation in accordance with the municipality's operational goals together with the unit manager. In your role as shift commander, you also have contact with Gällivare's residents, businesses, other authorities, and similar organizations. We see that you have good knowledge of the Act on Protection against Accidents and other laws and regulations that govern and affect the rescue service's work. We assume you have good computer skills in commonly used software programs and can express yourself well orally and in writing, to, among other things, train your own personnel and citizens in society. You are independent, responsible, and can communicate in both speech and writing in a trustworthy manner. You should have the desire to help develop the organization forward. Since the rescue service is undergoing intensive change management and there are major challenges in the work, we place great emphasis on your flexibility and openness to change. We also see it as positive if you have experience working in a politically governed organization. To thrive in the role of shift commander, you need the ability to make well-founded decisions independently based on the organization's values and goals. It is important that you have a broad perspective and can see the bigger picture in your way of working. As an assistant shift commander, you must also be able to function as a firefighter and in the role of smoke diver leader. Before employment begins, a suitability test will be conducted and you must have a satisfactory medical examination. To obtain employment, you must be certified as a smoke diver according to the Work Environment Authority's regulations. Qualifications Certified and completed SMO, or GRIB, together with experience from operational rescue service or older training that we deem equivalent. Driver's license minimum class C LK 1 Shift Commander or older equivalent Meet the requirements for smoke and hazmat diving Safety Inspection A with a passing grade Passed treadmill test according to AFS 2007:7 (not older than 3 months)—attach to application. Good swimming ability minimum Gold Badge certificate—attach to application. Driver's license BC Good collaboration ability Good administrative ability and computer skills You are engaged, driven, and responsible Merits: LK2 Operations Leader or older equivalent Snowmobile license CPR Instructor Management or leadership experience Other: Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
