Västerbergs Folkhögskola is part of the Culture and Skills Administration in Region Gävleborg. We provide education, adult education, and some conference activities. The folkhögskola (folk high school) provides preparation for the rest of life and is an educational form for adults who want formal qualifications, develop their creative sides, or deepen their subject knowledge in various areas. The school is located in Storvik with good transportation and commuting distances to places like Gävle and Falun. We have approximately 40 employees and 300 participants at the school.
Since our current assistant principal will be taking up the position of principal in the fall, we're looking for you to help us shape the future of the folkhögskola and make a difference for our participants.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The assistant principal is unit manager for the special courses and service unit, and reports directly to the principal. The service unit has seven employees, distributed among kitchen, facility maintenance, and maintenance services.
The folkhögskola is a flexible educational form that can quickly adapt to changed and new conditions. As assistant principal, you participate in developing the course offerings so the school can meet the needs of the surrounding community. Your involvement in developing and maintaining external contacts and dialogue with other folkhögskolor is valuable to us.
Your main responsibilities as assistant principal are to
• lead activities toward set goals together with the principal
• work on course development and pedagogical development
• manage operations, finances, and employees within the special courses and service unit, which also includes work with course admissions, assessment of study results, and responsibility for our residential facility
• collaborate with the counselor, career advisor, and administrative support functions
• plan and determine job allocation, scheduling, and handle student-related legal matters.

Previous experience working at a folkhögskola and thus knowledge of the folkhögskola as an educational form is a merit, as is completed principal training.
