Description Do you want to lead and develop one of Gothenburg's largest adapted primary schools and make a real difference? We are now seeking a driven, flexible, and committed assistant principal for the adapted primary school at Bergsgårdsskolan. Bergsgårdsskolan is located in Hjällbo with immediate proximity to natural areas and excellent communication connections, just a five-minute walk from the tram stop. The school has approximately 330 students in the primary school (grades F–6) and approximately 70 students in the adapted primary school (grades 1–6) distributed across 13 classes as well as three after-school programs. This makes our adapted primary school one of the largest in Gothenburg City based on student numbers. As assistant principal with us, you step into a shared leadership role where you are one of two assistant principals for the adapted primary school. You are part of a strong and cohesive school leadership team together with the principal and four other assistant principals who together cover Bergsgårdsskolan's primary school units (grades F–3 and 4–6) as well as Erikboskolan (grades F–6). The school also has an experienced and interdisciplinary student support team – with school nurse, counselor, special education teacher, and school psychologist – who work in close collaboration with the leadership and staff. Responsibilities In your role as assistant principal, you exercise close and present leadership for both students and staff. You work operationally and executively under delegated responsibility with a focus on the school's core processes, education, and knowledge development. You have personnel, operations, and work environment responsibility for your part of the operations and are driving the systematic quality work. This includes, among other things, conducting staff meetings, acting as a salary-setting manager, and methodically planning the operations toward established goals. The assignment also includes customary administrative responsibility regarding the Education Act, LSS, school transportation, as well as collaboration with Rehabilitation & Health and other external actors. Together with others in the school leadership team, you build a safe, inclusive, and stimulating school. In your work, you have access to extensive support from the Primary Education Department's central functions in areas such as HR, economics, law, quality, and digitalization. Qualifications We are seeking you who have an academic degree of at least 180 credits including pedagogy, at least four years of experience working in schools, and previous experience in leadership roles. You have good knowledge of the laws, regulations, and governance documents that regulate the school system at the national level. It is meritorious if you have completed principal training or other management or leadership programs, and if you have previous experience as a manager or school leader – especially in adapted primary school or as a licensed teacher/special education teacher in this type of operation. Experience in financial management, resource allocation, work environment issues, and leadership in socioeconomically challenging areas is also valuable for the position. To thrive and succeed in this role, you need to be a driven and flexible person who feels comfortable with a dynamic assignment where conditions can change quickly. You step in with energy and motivation, have an easy time adapting, and reprioritize work when needs require it, while keeping your focus on long-term goals. As a leader, you are attentive, open, and thoughtful. You are skilled at listening in to other people's needs and perspectives, building strong and trusting relationships, and viewing challenges or setbacks as a natural part of learning. Through your ability to communicate clearly and engage those around you, you succeed in gaining support for new ideas and create a strong team spirit where staff feel inspired and secure. You have an analytical acuity that allows you to quickly work through complex problems, see connections, and make well-considered decisions. At the same time, you have a strong holistic perspective – you see your operations as an important part of a larger context and willingly collaborate across boundaries in the school leadership team to create the best possible value for all students at the school. You are motivated by clearly defined goals and have the ability to transform these into concrete action. We warmly welcome your application!
