Our Operations The orthopedics and hand surgery department is a constantly developing workplace consisting of an adult orthopedic urgent care clinic, management of acute and elective orthopedic conditions, and a pediatric orthopedic unit with acute and elective services. The main focus is both highly specialized and basic orthopedic care within seven different sections divided into prosthetic surgery, spine surgery, fracture surgery, shoulder/knee surgery, foot and ankle surgery, hand surgery, and pediatric orthopedics. In addition to patients from Uppsala County, a large number of national and regional patients are treated within each subspecialty, and the department has extensive collaboration with orthopedic clinics in the region. The department has approximately 250 employees. Your Assignment The position involves elective and, to some extent, acute orthopedics with a focus on foot and ankle surgery. On-call duties are included. Work is based at Akademiska Hospital and at other units with which we collaborate. The department has an academic profile with education for medical students and physicians at all stages of their careers, other basic education, and specialist training for nurses. We conduct research with national and international partners and work on quality and patient safety with a focus on proactive operations development. As a team member in the foot and ankle section, you will be part of a team with great clinical and academic engagement with strong interest in education and quality development. High priority is placed on training of resident physicians, and the section arranges national courses for both resident and specialist physicians. Your Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a specialist in orthopedics for at least five years with a focus on foot and ankle surgery. The position involves particular responsibility for reconstructions of neuromuscular feet and ankle joint prosthetics, making documented experience in this area a requirement. Experience in highly specialized surgery, particularly with expertise in neuromuscular foot reconstructions, cavus foot reconstructions, and ankle joint prosthetics is highly desirable. We believe you have a strong personal drive and are passionate about developing the department to an internationally high standard.
