For more information, see https://www.gu.se/socav The Department of Sociology and Work Science is now seeking one to two postdoctoral research fellows to work within the EU Horizon-funded projects REFLECT and VISTA, with a focus on gender, intersectionality, and quantitative methods. REFLECT: https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101290292 VISTA: https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101286827 Responsibilities Successful candidates will contribute to two EU Horizon-funded research projects led by Sofia Strid and Anne Laure Humbert. The REFLECT project investigates intersectional gender-related inequalities among researchers in Europe, while the VISTA project focuses on gender-based violence in organized sports in Europe. The hired candidate(s) are expected to contribute to one or both projects according to project needs. The projects employ mixed methods approaches and address pressing societal challenges related to gender, intersectionality, and inequality through advanced quantitative methods (including cross-national surveys), qualitative methods (including narrative interviews, focus groups, and photovoice), and co-creation methods. The projects are conducted in collaboration with international partners and aim to generate knowledge relevant to research, policy development, and practice. The postdoctoral researchers will work within the above projects, primarily within the quantitative work packages. Responsibilities include contributing to the design and analysis of cross-national surveys, leading the operational implementation of these through active coordination of data collection, and managing and analyzing quantitative data. The hired candidates are expected to collaborate closely with senior researchers and international collaborators, contribute to joint scientific publications, and take initiative to lead academic publications and other research outputs within the project frameworks. The position may also involve participation in mixed methods research, including integration and analysis of qualitative data in collaboration with other project members. Qualifications Selection will be based on an overall assessment of scientific competence, methodological skills, experience, and personal suitability in relation to the position's content. Requirements A PhD or being in the final stages of doctoral training in social statistics, sociology, or a related field with a strong quantitative methods focus is required. Highly Meritorious Very strong skills in quantitative research and statistical analysis. Interest in and willingness to further develop knowledge in advanced quantitative methods, particularly intersectional multilevel modeling. Experience with survey design and implementation of data collection. Documented experience with research on gender and intersectionality. Experience working in R and/or Stata and willingness to learn additional relevant software. Meritorious Experience working with cross-national surveys and datasets. Experience with mixed methods approaches and/or qualitative research methods. Knowledge of or interest in research on gender-based violence and/or inclusive research and innovation. Personal Qualities Great importance will be placed on personal qualities. The position requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with senior researchers and international research groups. Furthermore, the ability to work independently, take own initiatives, and plan and carry out tasks in a structured and reliable manner is required. Very strong communication skills are essential. The applicant must have very good English skills, both spoken and written, equivalent to CEFR level C2. Swedish language skills are meritorious. Employment The position is a fixed-term employment for 12 months with 100% full-time work at the Department of Sociology and Work Science. The work will be carried out primarily in Sweden.
